[RNS Pathfinder, 09:30 RST]
Once confirmation had been received that a rescue ship was inbound, the ship's captain had ordered the Pathfinder to go to Warp. Join reclined in his quarters as the morning shift began, giving him 8 hours to relax before he had to return for the midday shift. He picked up a novel and began to read...

==Bashmeli's Hive== =Ringworld of Gilmar=
The roughly eighty minutes that would pass would be fast for the Workers on board, not having much in the way of perception of time or boredom. The Noble captain, Teshmel, would spend the entire time coordinating the crew to keep the vessel running. It would drop out of FTL with a small shockwave as the vessel's engines re-established a solar orbit parallel with the Belt. They would be 80 KM away from the closest asteroid, a small asteroid of 24 metres that their scanner would show. RADAR readings would show it to have a large concentration of iron, with concentrations of other heavier elements. The Workers would go through the process for activating the tractor beam, targeting the asteroid that Teshmel wanted. It would be dragged into the cargo bay rather successfully, the weak tractor beam having several hard-points from which to alter its manipulation of the asteroid.
The asteroid would mass around 68,000 tonnes and nearly entirely fill up one of the peripheral cargo-holds, leaving mostly small areas in the corner which would be filled up with tiny asteroids. The first cargo hold would be filled up with over 87,000 tonnes of asteroids when it was shut and the second would be opened, another asteroid of similar size located and moved to be within 14 KM of it. It would be brought into the cargo hold and the cargo hold would be filled up with tiny asteroids in order to maximize their haul. When all was said and done, the vessel would have roughly 170,000 tonnes of asteroid in its two holds and would be half full. Teshmel would have the Workers activate the FTL drive and begin the eighty minute trip back to the Ringworld to process their haul of resources.

-Black City on Kethend- With the decision of where to explore, other tasks are finally set to order. There was minor concerns raised over possible orbital defenses, however this was rather quickly shut down by the fact they couldn't find a single reason for why. Despite that though, There is some general concerns over how to expand, with the value of the gates currently through the roof, there is concerns over the fact exploration will leave gates sitting around. Considered a non-issue for the moment it is still a topic for discussion, largely from the fact that they can't really find a method to deal with the problem outside of destroying the gates after use.

[At the landing pad on Wontalla]
Chancellor Diablo glanced at his watch on his upper left wrist, the C-249 was running a bit late. He clicked his mandibles in annoyance, he hated having to wait, and he had already been here for an hour. Now that his tour of the major cities on Wontalla was finished he was going back to Tronjal. One of his guards came out of the building next to the landing pad, and hurried over to Diablo, "The C-249 Infinity just came out of FTL, sir." he said, "It will be arriving soon." Diablo nodded his dismissal and the guard walked back to the building. He looked up at the clear sky, Wontalla was allot warmer this Astrila, it was nice, but he didn't think he could get used to it here, he preferred the cold of his homeworld. He saw the Corvette appear as a dot in the sky, but quickly growing bigger as it descended towards the platform.

==Bashmeli's Hive== =Ringworld of Gilmar=
The corvette would arrive back in the vicinity of the Ringworld. Altering its orbit to be parallel with the Ringworld again, it would extend its orbit into the atmosphere of the Ringworld. Entering the atmosphere above the Hive, Tashmel would have the corvette's radio send the signal to open the landing bay doors. The vessel would slow its velocity and engage its vertical engines and slowly enter the bay, opening the cargo bay doors as Workers swarmed the landing bay, working together to drag the thousands of tonnes of rock and metals off of the corvette to be processed.

-Isura at B-491- With the problem soon found regarding the satellites, the crews were having to make some rather improvised adjustments to the satellite grid. The two communication technicians on board the two ships were relaying back and forth to find a halfway decent solution. The deployment of further satellites was continuing as normal, which meant trying to find a solution that could be applied without physical adjustment. The one spoke, "Are you sure we can't just raise them to a higher orbital state?", "Yes I'm sure, it would mess up the scan and there's no guarantee it would work, We'll probably have to setup some sort of relay", "Relay with what? We'd need four points, and we don't have any equipment on board to setup those points", "Ya, Ya, and we don't got enough ships either, Maybe if we just re purpose four of the satellites?", "All the satellites are accounted for in the deployment charts, We'd have gaps in the scan", "Gaps are still better then nothing", "Maybe not, the satellites do still have some functionality even if they aren't communicating"

[Status Report]
The Senate recently cast a vote on whether to send out one of the C-249s on an exploration mission. The proposal was to send the corvette out many LYs from IAR space to look for new life. Many areas of space had been selected as being likely to hold life from readings taken from deep space sensors. The proposition was denied by the Senate however because of the skepticism of the idea that any life out there is close enough to contact, but the vote was close. Many of the Senators are beginning to change their opinions because of the large amount of habitable worlds discovered so close to Tronjal.

-Isura at B-491- The two technicians continued the debate, going on for a fair bit of time before finally coming to a solution. "Alright, So if this works as intended, we should be able to get the satellites to convert to a peer to peer mode. Assuming no other problems, the new wavelength pattern will solve this", A quick transmission to the satellites with a rather crudely made patch caused the satellites to update their transmission protocol. A few moments later the satellites were communicating again with each other, bounding to the next in line to create a peer to peer system. The one technician just said "Well, that seems to work for the moment, doubt it'll last more then a few months though", "We'll worry about that then, we can probably get some formal relays by then as well"

-VSS Iseia- Captain Daria Varskaan marveled at the power she had. A cruiser with nearly 200 strike craft. It alone could potentially overwhelm the rest of the small fleet. It could even go to superluminal speeds with the new warp drive. However, the exact details of it were classified even to her. At the moment she was sitting in the captain's chair in the bridge. It was buried deep in the center of the space craft. Not like those outer bridges those silly sci-fi flicks showed. The bridge was big as far as ship compartments went (barring the hangars obviously). Still, it was somewhat cramped for the number of people inside. If there was one thing about spacecraft, it was that no space was wasted. Daria was reading her orders at the moment.

[At the main landing pad in Orchan]
Chancellor Diablo stepped out of the Corvette and into the bright sunlight as the C-249 Infinity's fusion drive powered down. His usual guards walked a few steps behind him as he hurried over to the waiting limousine and got in. He had missed a Senate meeting during his journey to Wontalla and he wanted to get back to the capital as soon as possible. Once the limousine arrived at the capital he got out and hurried inside, his aide was waiting for him, "Chancellor, Urilia Vind is waiting for you in your office." he said, 'Great,' Diablo thought, 'just what I needed.' Urilia was a highly respected astrophysicist, but she had some "interesting" theories about alien life, and she could be quite... spunky. "All right," Diablo said, "I won't keep her waiting." He started off to his office, his guards and his aide close behind him, as he got into the elevator he couldn't help wondering what Urilia had cooked up this time.

==Bashmeli's Hive== =Ringworld of Gilmar=
Over the next several weeks, the resources from the Kuiper Belt would be smelted in the limited underground industrial sectors. It would go slow, as even for a small haul, it is a far larger haul than the Hive has ever been used to. The Corvette would still take trips out to the Kuiper Belt in order to fully fill its four cargo holds, bringing back over 300,000 tonnes of asteroid every time. Each haul would have 40-80,000 tonnes of resources, enabling rapid expansion of the Hive. Bashmeli would re-engage herself in order to begin laying eggs in the Royal Chambers at the highest rate she can, over 500 eggs a day.
Within 10 weeks over 35,000 eggs would have been laid, completely filling the Royal Chambers. By the end of the 10 week cycle, roughly 2,200 Workers would be hatched and 1,300 Soldiers would be hatched, the ratio being similar for every week's brood. The Hive would never see this kind of boom before, struggling to expand the underground chambers to house the new individuals. Industrial sectors however would take precidence and would be expanded slowly to allow for the massive influx of resources.

-Isura at B-491- With the current problem dealt with, the two technicians were finally able to return to other activities, that in question being returning to the holorooms to find the rest of the ship crews had already finished the competition games. Thus they instead recline to just watching what unfolded. The competition game in this case consisting of what best considered a "Hunters" game, with one team acting as hunters and the other prey, switching after a round to see who can get the better time. While this normally wouldn't run to long it had been made somewhat more complicated. Equipment for both hunters and hunted along with a massive complex playing field thanks to the holorooms. Just going through the first few minuites its fairly obvious the playing field agreed to had been a labyrinth, the one making comment "Why is it always the Labyrinth, never the city?", "Because the city is stupid"

[Kingdom of Athos] [Lacor Planetary System, RNV Pathfinder]
Jorin sighed with relief as the Destroyer's lighting returned to normal for the final time of this patrol. After about a week surveying system after system, Pathfinder was finally back home. "The navigation system says it'll be a half-hour before we reach the shipyard, and the crew can handle final docking procedures alone", he thought, standing to go collect his bags from his quarters.

The Hive would begin to use the resources to retool their industrial sectors underground to a more efficient standard. Using the resources available to them to replace, maintain and otherwise fix old equipment and construct new production facilities. Most would be devoted to establishing their own ground production of corvettes in order to expand their reach into space, as well as other miscellaneous factories.

Diablo opened the door to his office and stepped inside, closing the door behind him. Urilia was standing by his desk, "What can I do for you, Urilia?" Diablo asked as he went over to his desk and sat down, he had learned a long time ago that it was best to get right to the point in discussions with Urilia. Urilia sat down in one of the chairs in front of the desk, "Chancellor," she said, "I believe I have located several locations where the chances for encountering intelligent life are very high." She pulled a computer out of her bag and put it on the table so Diable could see, "I've been examining the deep space sensor readings and I've detected signals that indicate intelligent life from this area." she said, opening up a star map on the computer and pointing to a small group of stars. "I've calculated the likelihood of a successful mission, and I've also determined the cost of sending a Corvette to this group of stars to investigate." she pulled a sheet of papers from her bag and put them on the table as well, "I've also included the specifics of the signals we're detecting as well as the likely benefits." she added.

[Kingdom of Athos] [Planet Lacor, Falcon's Point outskirts, R&D Complex]
Scientists buzz around the walled complex, carrying stacks of tablets, experiments, and prototype machines. Behind closed doors a team works on the construction of a weapon based on the already-known science of the laser. Meanwhile, in another part of the building, a small crowd of Athosan scientists gather around a single Draiar in a white robe, typing on a tablet, when on a screen behind him suddenly appears a yellow-green wireframe model of a new weapon: the Neutron Beamer.

"Urilia," Diablo said, "this is all very interesting, but your basing your conclusions on a hypothesis that goes against what we've observed in the systems we've colonized. Based on our observations of planets capable of supporting life, the chances of intelligent life being even remotely close to us is astronomical." Urilia shook her head, "With all due respect Chancellor," she said, "the number of planets we've discovered that are capable of supporting life proves the opposite. Before we began colonizing worlds, we thought only a tiny percentage of stars had planets, and of those we thought that only a small percentage were habitable. Now we know that most stars have planets and quite a few of those are habitable. The theory that says that life would most likely be far away from us is based on our old way of thinking. Come on, Chancellor, it's been almost 70 years since those theories were valid, and we are still holding onto our old way of thinking!"

Diablo sighed, "Even if you're right and there is life close by," he said, "our finding it by random star system hopping would take months." Urilia started to object but Diablo held up a claw, "Even with these readings, it is very unlikely that it's intelligent life, there are many crazy things in this galaxy." he continued, "If we were to send out a corvette on a long range mission, there would have to be something else of value in it besides the slight chance of meeting alien life. So maybe, instead of searching for possible signs of life, why don't you start looking for things that could benefit the IAR in a more realistic time frame." Urilia clicked her mandibles angrily, but she knew better then to argue, she put her computer back into her bag and stood up, "Thank you for your time Chancellor." she said a bit stiffly and left the room. Diablo waited until she had gone and pulled the files she had left towards him. Even if there was no intelligent life, these readings had to have come from somewhere, and it might be worth checking out.

Diablo looked over the report as he sat back in his chair, he had given Urilia's research to his own group of astronomers to examine and they had just reported their findings. As near as they could tell, the readings were coming from a system near the middle of the group of stars that Urilia had selected. The star's gravitational field had been observed to change in the way that indicated that there was at least one planet in orbit, but it had never crossed into a place where it could be viewed. The subspace sensors had confirmed the existence of an orbital body around the star in question, but they were unable to identify the type, it was unlike any planet that had been observed before.

-Black City on Kethend- With the next gate ship almost ready to send out, an interesting discussion crops up of sending it out for an exploration vessel instead. Though with no means to alert the Isura currently deployed it would be impossible to tell them of the change, leaving the idea to quickly be dismissed. However it is brought up that an exploration ship could be dispatched now and simply send a gate for it later, given a gate would have to be sent eventually regardless. The idea has some merit though there is again concerns on maintaining a home fleet. Channels are opened with the orbital fleet to determine if any of the ships could be dispatched for exploration duty without threatening response capabilities to much.

The senate recently reconsidered their decision not to send out an exploration corvette after Chancellor Diablo presented the high possibility of discovering and observing a type of planet previously unknown to the IAR. At least, that was the formal statement, in reality it was mainly due to the Chancellor's influence in the Senate. The C-249 Discovery is being prepped for the relatively long trip to the system, as well as having quite a bit of scientific equipment brought on board. The crew will consist of the pilot, co-pilot, 3 scientists and a guard, it will soon be ready to leave.

Activity in the ringworld would pick up fast, with new clutches of workers getting to work within hours as their exoskeletons hardened. The corvette would nearly overload the Hive with resources, constantly buzzing between the Kuiper Belt and the Ringworld. Constant low-level, but still detectable for some distances, pings of entry into hyperspace and exit out of would happen. The tactical drive would be the boon to the Hive, allowing them to grow beyond their population bottleneck without exhausting every ounce of metal for thousands of kilometres.

[On board the C-249 Discovery]
Captain Ricardo Vendalez sighed, the team of scientists had been fussing around over a faulty piece of equipment, they had insisted on getting it replaced causing the take off time to be delayed by almost an hour, now, however, they were ready for liftoff. Ricardo pressed a button on the console, "Control, this is the C-249 Discovery," he said, "we are finally ready for liftoff." After a second the Arthan in the control tower responded, "Copy, Discovery, you are clear for launch." Ricardo cut the transmission and began powering up the fusion drive, "Let's get this show on the road." he said to himself, the scientists were in their quarters and his co-pilot, Arvad Tarlin had his headphones on as usual. The Corvette's fusion drive came to life and the C-247 blasted off of the landing pad and rose into the clouds. After a few seconds of no visibility the corvette exited the clouds, Arvad adjusted the burn to bring the C-247's trajectory to a steady orbit around the planet. Ricardo powered up the slipstream drive as Arvad entered the coordinates into the computer. The trip would take quite a few days, but the crew would only experience a few seconds in FTL. A flash of light enveloped the Corvette as it's slipstream drive activated, the route would utilize current routes to get to the edge of IAR space before heading directly for the star system in question, but it wouldn't exit FTL during that time.
