With the continued reports of Communist revolutionary activity, and the protests of Alderan's neutrality policy, President Ishtar has announced that he will take action against the communists, but he hasn't said just what that action will be. Perceived as a ploy to buy time, Alderan's citizens are even more unhappy with the Neutrality Policy.

The Spetsnaz troops aiding the rebels were, notably, unmarked.
The tank is, for the moment, moved back out as after an evaluation of the state of Nuevo Madrid's military opposition, its not seen as necessary anymore. The Chevskograd troops take up a stance of "peacekeeping", trying to "stop" the violence while the unmarked Spetsnaz troops continue to incite it. They don't attack anybody, just sort of stand there looking intimidating.

Hans's squad would move into the city, finally encountering the first riots. They would be marked soldiers of Freital and would encounter two revolutionaries the first time. The revolutionaries would fire on them, seeing them as threats to the coming Communist regime. Hans's squad would take cover and a small, short firefight would ensure. When the revolutionaries took the time to reload, Hans and his second-in-command Jan would pop up over cover and wait for the revolutionaries to come back up. When they did, two quiet shots would be fired and both would drop dead with their brains splattered over the pavement. Hans's squad would move quickly to hide the bodies, stashing them into a alley before moving out to distance themselves from the sounds of loud gunfire.
The Madridian military would begin troop-shifts to shift their forces against the rebels. They would close off the rest of the town-center, collapsing the walls of buildings to make makeshift barricades to defend from and deny access to. This would force rebels and peacekeepers alike to come through the only obvious route, the southern road leading into the center.

In Pustatina a review of the work needed to get the shipyard to full capacity, the report is a fair bit grim unfortunately as only one dry dock is even found serviceable. The heavy crane was discovered to be inoperable and the workshop had been neglected so bad that a storm had collapsed part of the workshop. The review suggested that to fully restore the shipyard, additional metal processing was going to be required. Along with additional workshops and an assembly line for some parts. discussions are opened on if trade should be considered to acquire the parts, or as the one member put it "We could just take them on permanent loan from somewhere else, I'm sure they won't miss a few hundred tons of steel"

Iseian troops would arrive with the Warsovians. They would send recon as well. They knew intelligence was key to a battle plan.
January 23, 2532 Monday, 9:59
By now the Iseians had moved into town. They had seen the MBT and other Chevskograd troops coming in before the assault started in Earnest. The squads fired at the enemy troops briefly. They then fell back before their positions could be found by the MBT. A squad lingered to cover the rest of the Iseians. They fired a machine gun at the MBT.

The Iseians had made a BIG mistake, since officially Chevskograd was only there to help restore order, not to conquer the city. With any luck, this would damage their international relationship with other nations. Things seemed to be going perfect for Chevskograd. Now, the Iseians would die.
The tank was in the process of leaving when the Iseians attacked. The MBT's pintle-mounted 13mm machine gun opened fire on the Iseian troops. Any that were caught in the line of fire would be shredded, others would be pinned down. Their machine gun did nothing to the tank's thick armor plating. Chevskograd troops were given kill on sight orders against the Iseians, who would have a very difficult time getting away. The area was under the control of Chevskograd and the Communists.

News of the Iseian attack reaches Major Piontek quickly. With the appearance of the Chevkograd tank, he realized the Iseians would need to be rescued. The Warsovian soldiers were prepared for an attempt to rescue the pinned Iseians. The tank would be a large problem. The infantry squads were unequipped for destroying a tank, equipped with small arms, mortars, and anti-tank rifles that could destroy external fittings, but had no chance of penetrating a tank's armor. The squad of engineers travels with one of the infantry squads, who are tasked with handling the tank. The engineers have better anti-armor capacity, as they are equipped with an anti-armor missile. The more primitive design of the missile may prove ineffective against the tank's thick armor, as the missile is designed more for destroying lightly armored vehicles.

It was obvious Chevskograd was communist, and so were the rebels. That was way too much of a coincidence. Meanwhile the Iseian troops had fled into the city, using the buildings to break up line of sight. Casualties were light as a result. The covering squad took losses however, as it used a street briefly before disappearing in an alleyway. It was as if the tank terrified them into fleeing.

The tank is pulled out of the city, so its not such an easy target.
In the Iseian attack, two Chevskograd soldiers had been heavily wounded. This would, of course, not stand well with the government. Premier Chenkov was tempted to declare war, but decided not to at this time. He'd wait until Madrid was in their hands.
The revolutionaries, being led by the undercover Spetsnaz, are directed to kill not only Nuevo Madrid's soldiers, but also any Iseians or Warsovians.

Squads of Warsovian troops shelter in buildings. The engineer squad is sent to the roof of a building, carrying a mortar. They hope to hit communist positions from above, causing death, fear, or both. Warsovian soldiers returned fire from windows. The technical was put into use, heading into the streets of Neuvo Madrid.

The Iseian troops had been trying to lure the tank in. That failed, so they formed up and reorganized quickly. They returned fire at the Spetsnaz and revolutionaries. The soldiers moved to link up with the Warsovians. They used suppression fire and grenades where needed. The squads moved in groups. One would cover while the other would move up. This also allowed them to flank enemy strongholds that were between them and the Warsovians.

Chevskograd snipers had set up in several other builds in the area. They begin taking out any Warsovians that appear in the open.
A mortar shell hits a group of soldiers taking cover behind a wall. There were eight, and three are wounded. Five are killed. The Chevskogradians begin to slowly push forward, heading through alleyways and streets the Warsovians wouldn't have covered as heavily.
The MBT-50 is just a few kilometers away from the front line. It stops, and turns its turret around. The crew begins to load an HE shell, and it begins to acquire its target: The building the mortar is on. Troops had spotted it and relayed its position to the tank. It'd take a minute or two for them to be ready to fire, though.

The sound of the fighting picking up in the denser parts of the city and southern suburbs would prompt Hans's squad to storm a house and usher out the inhabitants, sending a squad member with to get them out of the city. They would use the building as cover to setup a radio to call back to the two marksman on the outskirts of the city. "What the hell is going on there? We just hear signs of heavy fighting, but nothing seems to be near us. Where the hell is it going on? Over." The snipers would scan the area and the sniper named Wilhelm would radio back and say. "Seems to be a quarter click north, heavy fighting. Mass of rebels being stirred, room-to-room fighting. I'd keep a your rifle ready, they don't seem to friendly to us if those gunshots a few minutes ago were any indicators. Over."
Hans would say. "Copy, over." They would pack up the small squad radio and move out into the city, now numbering only four as that group of five civilians were pulled out of the city. The fighting wouldn't be too intense on the south side of the city, mostly just sporadic gunfights and rebel occupation with most forces are concentrated in the northern sectors. This situation would quickly change as they moved northwards, coming across fighting going room by room and being generally indecisive. The streets would soon be something they would try to avoid, coming under fire from a full-fledged Rebel squad. Hans would kick a door in as his other three men laid down suppressive fire, firing a rifle-grenade at the rebels to force them into cover. They would file in and take cover and prepare to dig in for a long gunfight with these rebels, most likely attracting more with the gunfire.
Madrid's forces would move out away from the town center, securing the city block by block as they could. They would keep fighting room by room and take advantage of roof access to buildings, moving down and back out onto the streets to secure buildings. The fighting would be viscous and 1/4th of the conflicts 23 confirmed kills and 47 total casualties from both sides at this point would be due to knife wounds. Keeping the town center secure, Madrid would attempt to collaborate with the foreigners that came in force and dispatch them to the north-west section of town there the Chevskogradian forces were the heaviest, attempting to hold their ground for as long as possible.

The Iseians link up with their Warsovian comrades. They filled in weak areas of the perimeter. They also attacked breaches in the perimeter the Chevskograd soldiers created. Seven Iseians were killed so far in the battle. A few others were wounded.

Alderan had just received word of the attack on the Iseians, and President Ishtar has finally decided to take action. He has ordered a squad of troops to dispatch for Madrid to scout out the situation and gather intel. They squad will head east over land until they hit the sea from there they will take a ship at the port that Alderan has control of there and make their way to Faldun and make their way over land to Madrid. Also, a special delegation is sent to New Iseia to approach their government with a proposition incase war is declared.

There were surprisingly little breaches in the perimeter for the Iseians to attack, the Chevskograd troops having the advantage of numbers. They were also heavily dug in, with machine gunners inside of buildings and sharpshooters positioned everywhere. Open streets were a killing field. Squads of Chevskogradian soldiers advanced from building to building, closing in on the opposing forces. Eight had died so far.
The tank has closed to within 900 meters of its target. It acquires its target, and fires. The high explosive shell would impact the building the combat engineers were on, exploding with tremendous force. It hit the top floor of the building, collapsing the roof.
An official statement from the Chevskograd government is released. The Iseians attacked first and without warning.

The strike from the HE shell not only killed the entire crew of three operating the mortar, but the collapsing roof crushed two more engineers on the top floor along with five soldiers who had been with them. Two soldiers are trapped by the rubble. An engineer is left behind to try to dig them out, as the rest of the squad begins evacuation of the building.
Other squads with their own mortars began the process of clearing and capturing buildings. The soldiers carry Srubas, made for close to mid range combat. The room to room clearing of buildings would be a long and hard process, for both communists and Warsovians.
The technical attempted to mow down Chevskogradian soldiers as they went from building to building. The gunner fired at any Chevskogradians out in the open as the technical went to assist the evacuating soldiers and engineers, who had alerted them by radio.

The firefight would go on for several minutes, with rebel fire having the goal to suppress the movements of Hans's squad. During periods when no shots were being fired, silent and quick shots would be fired. Each striking a target, either in the torso or head. Incapacitation or death would be the goal of their fire and it would work, over the course of several minutes killing 3 rebels and wounding 7 others. The remainder of the rebel squad would retreat deeper into the city to regroup with the rest of the Communists while Hans would order his squad to move up the building as it is a flat-roofed building connected to other flat-roofs, a sign of moving deeper into the city.
As they moved along the rooftops, they would near the town center. Most of the city, bar the street that was the entrance to the town center, would be under rebel control or occupation. The north-east sectors would be under control of Warskawa and Iseia while the center of the town and two blocks out would be defended heavily by Madrid's remaining army. The total conflict would have claimed 59 lives so far, with a total of 285 casualties being the total so far.

Iseia replies by stating that Chevskograd's statement was a lie. The troops of Chevskograd had stepped on soverign soil of Neuvo Madrid illegally. Madrid had never asked for that level of firepower for a so called 'peacekeeping' mission. Iseia was only defending the rights of the citizens of Madrid.
The Iseians would take cover in buildings when it became apparent that the streets were suicide. They set up their own machine guns and marksman teams.

Hans's squad would soon begin to reach rooftops overlooking the main fighting. They would hit the deck and drop to a prone position, taking cover behind the bricks that come up to provide a short railing. They would overlook the street, avoiding machinegun fire when it reared its head to them. Their uniforms were ignored as they expected, they had very few markings and were an urban gray to help them blend in. Hans would crawl over and open up the access to the stairwell to enter the building, occupied by Chevskogradian forces. There would be 9 in the building, three stories tall. On the top floor would be three of them. Hans would sneak down and take point, the gunfire muffling his steps. Following him would be Otto and at the rear would be Petra. Christian would stay on the roof, keeping a lookout for other troops moving along this block. Hans would move forward and take his combat knife out, Petra and Otto behind him. As he rushed forward he clasped his hand over the man's mouth and cut his throat with the other two meeting the same fate.
They would move down to the second floor and find four men in the floor. Two machineguns would be operated by them. Hans and Petra would fire off four shots each, both in quick succession into the back of their skull's. Spraying brains and blood forth they would setup a defensive position around the stairwell. The two men on the first floor would notice the quieting of the machinegun emplacements on the second floor and would move up to investigate. They would be greeted with silenced gunfire. The first soldier who came up would go down, not dead but easily mortally wounded. The second would fall back into cover and return fire, two of his bullets striking Petra in the leg. She would fall into a prone position on her back and Hans would drag her out of the stairwell, letting Otto poke his rifle out of cover as the final Chevskogradian soldier reloaded and fire a single shot into his skull to dispatch him. They wouldn't care who they killed in this city, they wernt visibly marked and they came for intel. Not to play diplomat.
Madrid's Lieutenants would order their men to work their way along the roofs and the streets. The two-way offensive's goal would be to push back the Chevskogradian forces. However the problem would come in due to attrition being a major factor. With most of their best soldiers defending Parliament, they would have to work with draftees. They would gain little ground with squad routing as they suffered even minor casualties due to wounds, but they would put up a front of an offensive as a shock tactic.

The radio on one of the dead soldiers, a Skeka, crackled to life. A voice speaking Russian came through. "Sergeant Urniir, report in." The voice said. "Why have you stopped firing?" It demanded.
The anti-vehicle squad reaches a building across the road from the technical. A soldier, holding a rocket propelled grenade launcher, peeks out of a window. He loads the launcher, and gets ready to fire.

The technical crew had not yet noticed the anti-vehicle squad. The technical drove down the street slowly, so the gunner could check the windows for any communists. It would make an easy target for the launcher.
Another building is captured by Warsovian forces. Four men died, and two others were wounded, leaving six to fire from windows and three to crew the mortar. The mortar team sets up on the roof. One of the crew used a pair of binoculars to search for the tank that had taken out the other mortar position. The arc of the mortar shell could probably hit the tank on the top of the turret, at least doing heavy damage to the turret and exterior fittings, if not disabling the tank completely.

Hans would hear the radio crackle to life, not understanding the language being spoken, he would simply say. "Oh schiße. Wir muss gehen, auf! Geh, Geh!" Otto would finish putting a bandage and topical painkiller over Petra's leg, giving her enough leeway to walk on it. They would climb the stairs as fast as they could, not carrying their rifles but rather clipping them in place over their equipment. They would reach the rooftop and Hans would sign for Christian to take point, motioning in the direction closer to Warsovian-controlled territory. They would attempt to cross the distance quickly, dropping into cover every time they crossed a roof to keep their eyes peeled for enemy forces.
Madrid's forces would suffer heavy casualties when attempting to take the street of Barber's Row. Occupied heavily by rebels and Chevskian forces, it would inflict nearly 28 deaths and 47 wounded for one building captured. The exhausted draftees would slowly begin to wear down under the stress, not being accustomed to real combat and most expecting just a minor police action instead of a full-on war. The forces in the town center would hold a generally high morale however, not being exposed to the full brunt of the conflict yet.
