In 2014, crisis over the annexation of sections of the Ukraine boil over into a further crisis. The west, led by America and NATO, put their foot down after Ukraine. Russia, not heeding these words, attempted to annex parts of Latvia. The West delivered on their advice and with Latvia and other Baltic states, led an attack on Russia. This sparked a war over the Earth between NATO and Russia, eventually China and by the war's end, the rest of the world. The would was reeling after this war ended in 2021, a stalemate that, although no nuclear weapons were used, left the world in a state of destruction. In this state, the remnants of Europe unified into the Eurasian Union and used what little NATO forces they had left to being unifying the remnants of the world. By 2035, most of the old world was unified and rebuilding under the Eurasian Union. The Americas were unified under the Atlantic-Pacific Conglomerate, and between these two powers, engaged in a technological race that led to the solar system being colonised by 2100. The first interstellar ship was sent out from Terra in 2128, to Alpha Centauri. By 2187 it arrived, traveling the journey at a high fraction of the speed of light. Although there was no habitable planet, there were several dead terrestrial worlds. This was expected and planned for and the system had a human settlement established the year its arrival. This, along with the decades following it having heavy technilogical advances in engines, eventually led to the region within 100 LY of the Orion Arm being colonized by human settlements that often never had contact with other worlds again. Alien species were contacted as well, those races being within the reach of Humanity. Earth formed a core of core worlds, along with the core-worlds of other alien species. These core worlds had generally similar advanced technology. Casual fusion, nanotechnology, 3D printing being used to construct the starships they plyed the stars in. As you moved further out however, the rim got progressively more and more primitive. Outer rim worlds, outside of the largest city on them, were generally using technology found in the late 21st century. Space exploration by these colonys was very low, and often once they landed never returned to the stars. There was little outside government on these worlds, and their own empires rose and fell. On a lot of them, settlements were city-states or part of a nation on these worlds. On this planet, Warskawa, this was the case. Settled in 2357, most colonies by the present date of 2532 were under 100,000 people with their surrounding states being not even a million people, with the largest settlement on the planet maintaining core-world technology and standards of life. The planet was cold and undergoing an ice-age, and with a population of only 67 million non-native settlers, was unlikely to exit it due to sentient interference. Regions unified under primitive nation-states or tribes in technology akin to the early 19th century would number nearly 400 million people. "Because" is never an excuse for IC actions, keep it sane. Actions will have consequences Guidelines: 1. This is a small, frontier world. Player colony populations are not going to exceed around 50,000 to 60,000 people 2. Militaries and industries are small, most of the power is situated in the Acropolis 3. Seriously, keep it sane. I will not protect colonies from being wiped out due to past stupid actions. 4. The player colonies are around mid 21st century tech. Not much different than what we have today. 5. They have hog-noses much like the hog-nosed bat. However, another race of the Vorskel have long fox like snouts. The Vorskel usually have short vestigial tail stumps. Date of Settlement: 2401 Species Sheet Species Name: Muzidrevo Appearance: Their head starts with a long snout, the bridge of which raises up to make a smooth slope from the top of their head to the tip of the snout. Four eyes rest on the head, two to each side and set back slightly, while the nose itself is rather like a deer. Large frilled ears remain the most distinctive sight for the head, helping thermoregulation. The body itself, including the head, is covered in a short fur, normally rather soft to the touch. The Fur takes on a variety of earthly colors, however fur dyeing is quite commonplace. They have a light skeleton build and the spine forces a slightly hunched posture. They have a long tail, usually equating to between 1/2 to 1/3rd their total height in length. The tail itself isn't prehensile and only has light muscles. They are Bipedal and have feet that have six Claws, 4 in the front and 2 at the back. Their hands are 4 fingered including the thumb, the 3 "fingers" have a retractable claw in them. He has managed to get blinded in both eyes on his left side, the eyes glazed over and never seem to focus on anything. Description: The Camar is largely regarded as one of the worst weapons to ever come out of manufacturing. It is prone to jams, the sight isn't adjustable and is prone to breaking. The weight is surprisingly heavy for an SMG and most importantly due to a major design flaw, the foregrip heats up with the barrel. Despite this, its one of the cheapest SMG's available. Despite many troops comments "I'd be better off THROWING it at the enemy!" it is still widely used. The rifles make use of a specialty high velocity round, enabling much higher accuracy at range. The price of both the rifle and ammunition though is often questioned. Weapon Sheet Name/Designation: MK IV Lugnar Rifle (Image Linked!)Type: Battle Rifle Ammo Type: 7.92x56mm Ammunition Magazine/Clip size: 35 Rounds Role: Specialty device for handling delivery of high energy mass towards another mass indiscriminately, with intent to rapid transfer energy to directed kinetic force against said mass. Description: The Lugnar is rather basic as far as firearms go, the most common complaint among the troops being its oversized stock. However, accuracy wise, its extremely reliable. The oversized stock containing recoil dampeners allowing for the rifle to stay on target for multiple shots. Further still, an Acog sight is standard equiped to the rifles. In close Quaters though, it has largely been discovered as disadvantaged due to length. Attempts at different ammunition though has discovered that incendiary ammunition, though weak, is possible. Weapon Sheet Name/Designation: MK II Gular Machinegun (Image Linked!)Type: Machine gun Ammo Type: 14x99mm Ammunition Magazine/Clip size: Belt Fed (100-200 round Boxes) Role: Spewing ammunition down range until everything stops moving. Description: The Gular is somewhat new to use, normally only being deployed in static defensive roles. its heavy weight makes it hard to move around, though the heavy ammunition more then accomplishes its task. Without much field use, the Gular doesn't have much of a track record yet, though hopes are it'll take to combat quite well. A variant is planned as a light weight stripped down version, removing most of the excess parts such as the large optics system. For the moment though it serves its role. Weapon Sheet Name/Designation: MK I Kalar Gyrojet Rifle (Image Linked!)Type: Gyrojet Rifle Ammo Type: 12.7x56mm Gyrojet Rounds Magazine/Clip size: 7 Rounds Role: Special Forces Rifle Description: The Kalar is an interesting rifle for the fact it fires Gyrojet rounds instead of normal ammunition, resulting in a far more quiet firearm. The Kalar is only just entering service with the armed forces and even then is restricted to special forces troops. Overall the weapon is surprisingly light for a rifle, with most of the weight being the wooden stock. Testing wise though, it shows to be a promising weapon, a number released to civilian hands have also proven quiet interesting from field reports. For the moment though the Kalar is remaining in limited production.

The government of Freital, resuming general operations after the New Years, would look to its own domestic policy. It was a large settlement compared to most of the fiefdoms on the planet. It paled in comparison to the Acropolis, but Neu Freital had a decent military that had some of the best arms on the planet. Mostly produced in what industry they had in their settlement. Their economy was doing well, employment was low. Those unemployed generally didn't stay that way or were that way of their own volition. The world was at peace for now, with conflicts between Humans being put to rest over the traditional holidays.

The Republika Warszawa was focused on one of their major problems; trade. No large settlements had formed on the coasts of the inland sea, which is what the original settlers of the city-state thought would happen. Without a proper navy, cheap civilian vessels that had been built out of local materials hugged the coast, looking for any smaller settlements that could provide some sort of trade good to Warszawa.

The sound of a fog horn rattled through Pustatina, much to the annoyance of a number of citizens. Dock crews were ready to Receive The Vlk as it was coming to the dock. The head of the fishermans guild rather annoyed as the vessel interrupted fishing docks for the moment. The colony itself was doing about as well as one could expect for someplace run by drunkards, For the moment most of the food production was handled by the fishermen, given hunting trips required a good long trip to the mainland. Most of the local production for the moment was on standby, Only two things of value were even being produced at the colony, the first being a fast fermenting variant of Muzidrevo Wine, the other being Lithium, Specifically, the production of Lithium. Largely thanks to a Mineral springs discovered on the island. However, full production still hasn't taken place along with the fact not much can be done with the lithium once extracted, leading most of it to simply be shipped off.

The Warszawa ships would find Iseia, the city in question not being very far away. Soldiers are mobilized but stand down when they see the ships are mostly unarmed. Iseia itself was a well off city and was fairly large one. It had a few outlying farming villages. Docks were on both sides of the isthmus. However, the city lacked a canal. That was planned to change in the future, however. The Warszawa ships were signaled they were clear to approach. The Iseians were curious about what they wanted.

Hans would be on the strait's coat, on the far east. Him and his squad would have marched out on patrol, as Freital claimed the entire region directly on both sides of the strait, along with the region their city was situated in. They would be a special operations squad, moving under cover of darkness and through heavy brush. Their rifles always at ready and suppressed if they had to enter into combat. Their patrol, on foot, would take several days and be incredibly through. Going down one side of the strait, crossing over, and coming back up on the north and going west.

Roughly the entire Isthumus was secured by Iseian forces. Two companies were to the North. They were in the coastal pass there. Two platoons were to the South East at another coastal pass. The companies in the passes had light defenses like sandbags, and makeshift bunkers made from timber and dugouts. They were using the mountains as a physical barrier to hostile forces. The other two companies were in Iseia itself along with the single tank destroyer. A line of heavily spaced outposts were to the South West from sea to sea. They were manned by small teams of soldiers. Some other spotters were also watching the mountains incase a bold enemy tried that route.

The Vlk was being loaded with supplies, The fuel tanks being filled up. Lameri was sitting in what passed for town hall, talking with the rest of the town "council" or what ever one might call it. Arguments had been made over posting a "mercenary" listing to offer the services of the Vlk, given the latest cost report for running it on local patrols. Lameri didn't really care one way or the other, unfortunately this also included most of town hall. The three, out of eight people present, that had anything to actually input were all three for posting it. As such a general listing would be sent out as soon as possible, Given that the communications tower was currently having powered down due to a lightning storm and thus serving more as a lightning rod then anything else.

An interpreter was sent from the civilian ships, who spoke Polish, French and English. He spoke for the Warsovians, first in English, then French. Speaking to any humans, he introduced the Warsovians. "Hello. We come from the north, the peninsula above this isthmus." He waited for any sign of comprehension from the Iseans.

Peat-dredging in the harbor of Freital would provide for the heating resources of the colony through the year, most ovens being peat and wood burning rather than gas or electric. Coal fields along the strait would provide what industry the colony had with their fuel, while iron would be imported from their trading partners Dalmur and Aquataine. Freital's primary exports would be Wheat, Potatoes, Beef and other crops and livestock brought from Terra, coal and smokeless powder.
Hans's squad meanwhile would finish their march back to Freital, entering the city and moving along the streets during the night. They would be left alone by everyone due to their black uniforms and readily-worn firearms, which would let the city know that they were military and would shoot to kill if they were attacked.

The icy wind stung Philip's face as he led his squadron through the streets of Alderan, the sun had sunk behind the peaks of the western mountains and the street lamps had been. The boots of his squadron squeaked in the snow as they trudged towards the Northern edge of the city where they would then turn west to relieve the troops at the outpost that guarded one of the 3 entrances to the valley which housed Alderan. The valley was covered mostly by spruce and pine trees, but it had several sizable fields, and the city itself was nested up against the mountains at the very back of the valley. The location had seemed ideal when it was first found, lots of wood, natural caves in the mountains that saved time when mining, and the steep mountains surrounding the valley provided protection from any large scale land assault from all but the 3 passes at the head of the valley. However, the bitter winters caused much grief among the people and soil in the valley required that most farms be outside the valley. But the people of Alderan had gotten used to their harsh home and some had begun to enjoy it. Philip pulled himself out of his reminiscence and back to the present, they were approaching the edge of the city, and the wind was getting stronger, it looked like it might snow later as well.

The Vlk had a listing on mercenary channels for its services, though no offers had been made yet. In town for the moment, a number of people could be seen lounging around just about everywhere. Scattered bottles were left over from a "Holiday" of the Muzidrevo, this unfortunately left most of the town in a drunken stupor. That was of course for those that had actually woken up, most of the town was still stone dead asleep, despite Lamari making repeated use of the Vlk's fog horn to try and wake people up for work.

Most of the people were finally up and going again in the colony, Orders had been set and the Shipyard was being restored with plans to begin laying down the hull of a new destroyer once it was ready. That of course was assuming projected income didn't fall short for the coming year, given the production is expected to take almost ten months. A small freighter is being loaded up with the stocks of lithium mined over the past three months. intending to ship it all the way to Acropolis.

Debate would rage in Freital's High Command. The debate on weather to devote what little industrial production the colony had to more light tanks, or to build heavy artillery pieces in the harbour and on the perimeter to defend the colony would be the primary debate. Eventually, after nearly 38 hours of the top Brass arguing, the plan would be to build the artillery. They would be the size of WWII Battleship guns and have a range of nearly 20 miles using HE shells. Construction would begin nearly immediately with plans for four guns being drawn up.
The contracts for iron ore for the guns' steel would be made as deals with the colony's local iron and steel mills to refine it into steel and wrought iron. Parts would be made out of wrought iron whenever possible if they were non-critical, while parts that took a large amount of stress would be made out of wrought iron. The guns themselves would be expected to have their materials gathered by February 1'st, 2532 and groundbreaking beginning on February 3'ed. The completion date would be placed between August to November, 2532 with the latest date being in February of 2533.
