-Name: Asathai
-Homeworld: Indath
-Physical Appearance: Tall, reptillian-like creatures. Their average height is 6 feet, or 1.8 meters. Their bodies are covered in scales. Male Asathai have gray to black scales, and frills on the backs of their heads. The frills can be folded and unfolded, and are usually dark red. Female Asathai have lighter gray scales. All Asathai have patterns of black or gray on their scales. They have five fingers and toes, which end in short claws. They have two rows of sharp teeth and forked tongues. Their pupils are slits, and their common eye colors are yellow, orange, and red. They have no tails.
-Average Lifespan (Up to 300): 90 years
-Protean Alignment (Astral, Nether, Neutral): Astral
-Elemental Base (Carbon, Silicon etc): Carbon
-Average ESPER level (1-7): 6
-Total Population: 12 billion
+History: The Asathai have a long past filled with war and strife. Their recorded history goes back about 2000 UY (Union Years). Like most sapient species, the Asathai were divided up into nations, and often got into armed conflicts with eachother. Not much of note occurred until about 500 years ago, when the Asathai nations fell into a massive world war. The war ended when it went nuclear, and much of the planet was decimated by nuclear strikes and reduced to irradiated desert. Several nations survived mostly unscathed, thanks to experimental laser defense systems destroying the nuclear missiles before they could hit. The surviving nations banded together out of a common goal: escape Indath. The planet would not be able to support Asathai life for at least 200 years. They quickly developed the means to begin colonizing the rest of their solar system, Tekkan. The first Asathai landed on Ilkith, the nearest planet to Indath, 437 years ago.
But the Asathai were still a young and warlike species, and the peace did not last. Eventually the colonies wanted independance, and broke off from the Unified Asathai Government... sometimes violently. The colonies then fought amongst themselves over resources, ideology, territory and some of the most petty things ever. The UAG fought to bring the colonies back under its heels, but they were outnumbered by the colonial militias. The Interplanetary Wars as they were called dragged on for decades, finally ending 379 years ago, 40 years after they began. Many colonies had been outright annihilated, while others had survived and grew into prosperous societies. The war was devastating enough that the Asathai were set back at least one hundred fifty years, and would not develop space travel again until 223 years ago.
Eventually they recovered their lost technology, but they were still divided. With their homeworld Indath now recovering from the nuclear war, and the colonies having access to other planets again, a race to recolonize the homeworld began. But the colony, Ilkith, was already there. They had more advanced technology than the other Asathai, having lost less in the Interplanetary Wars. In any case, most of the other colonies were militarily weak, while Ilkith was strong. They had been preparing for this day for a long time. They swept through the Tekkan system, violently or peacefully absorbing all of the other colonies into their domain. After the insurrections died down 194 years ago, the Asathai entered into an age of peace under Ilkith's rule.
177 years ago, on the anniversary of the first Asathai landing on Ilkith, the Unified Asathai Government unveiled their latest scientific advancement: An FTL Drive. Hyperdrive, to be specific. They had developed it and the ship that would test it in secret for the last 10 years, and had decided to reveal it to the public on this historic day. The first Asathai FTL spacecraft, the ASV Eternal, went from Indath to Ilkith in minutes, rather than the months it took conventional spacecraft. With the drive working properly, the UAG greenlit the Exploration Project. The Eternal and other ships like it would begin exploring and colonizing other systems.
+Other: The Asathai are physically weak but have powerful psionic abilities.

-Name: Dwerin
-Homeworld: Dakaar (Abandoned), Tuvaal (Adopted)
-Physical Appearance: Dwerin are short, averaging at 4 feet, or 1.2 meters. They appear similar to Terrans, other than their height and paler skin. Male Dwerin almost always have long beards. Their eyes are most often brown, sometimes green or blue. Their hair is almost always brown or black, though some are blonde. With the advent of cybernetic augmentation, many Dwerin have been rendered unrecognizable by their continued attempts at improving their already impressive biological bodies.
-Average Lifespan (Up to 300): 300 years
-Protean Alignment (Astral, Nether, Neutral): Astral
-Elemental Base (Carbon, Silicon etc): Carbon
-Average ESPER level (1-7): 1
-Total Population: 3 billion
+History: The Dwerin have the longest recorded history out of all of the "official" Union races. It goes back about 4000 UY (Union Years). During their history the Dwerin were not particularly warlike. On their homeworld of Dakaar they constructed great works of stone, building massive mountainhalls. Besides small wars between the Mountain Kingdoms, the Dwerin were a fairly peaceful species, content to sit in their halls and mine the world for riches. Then came their industrial revolution. The Dwerin had always had an industrial mind, but when true industry could be made they did so without hesitation. Quickly, they began to pollute their world. 1300 years ago they had reached the technology level of modern humans, but their pollution was unhindered, with no regulations or attempts to slow it down. Their mountainhalls had become giant factories, pumping pollutants into the air. They didn't realize how damaging they were being to their planet until the damage had been done. Dakaar would be rendered uninhabitable within 100 years due to the greenhouse effect raising the temperature. The Dwerin went to space, and did what they did best: mined and built.
Dakaar had an extensive ring system, made up of captured asteroids that were as large as the mountains on the surface. The Dwerin carved out some of these asteroids and inside of them built cities. But even then they weren't safe, as resources began to run out and it was necessary that the Dwerin leave the gravity well of their own planet. 1000 years ago, after about 300 years living primarily in the asteroid belt of their homeworld and watching it slowly die, the asteroid cities became cityships. The Dwerin modified them with gigantic engines, and left their solar system that they had already picked clean. They became wanderers, going between star systems at slower than light speeds and devouring the resources of any solar system they came accross, ruining any habitable planets in the process.
400 years ago, they came across the Erythn on a colony established by Erythn generational ships. First contact with an alien race was an exciting prospect, but the Erythn knew what the Dwerin had done in the past to the planets they landed on. The Erythn saw this as an affront to their religion, which was that the universe was sacred and should not be defiled, as was the will of the Creator. The Erythn attacked the Dwerin fleet, which struck back. They had a significantly large fleet of military ships, but the Erythn had the home field advantage. This was their solar system, and within it was the means of starship production. After six months of fighting, the Dwerin knew they couldn't take much more and took a final action against the colony out of sheer desperation. They bombarded it with nuclear weapons, killing everything on the planet. They were able to escape, and they returned to wandering, shaken and their supplies depleted.
162 years ago when they were crossing the void between star systems, they encountered an anomaly. Their flagship, the Dwardrukar, was sent at FTL speeds to a distant solar system, several light years from the fleet. They believed it lost. In the 1000 years they had been wandering, the Dwerin had become technologically stagnant and never developed FTL drives. They couldn't get to the Dwardrukar and it couldn't get to them. Then the Asathai found it.
+Other: The Dwerin are especially excellent engineers and craftsmen.

-Name: Krath
-Homeworld: Syka
-Physical Appearance: Varies by Form.
Warrior: The most basic Krath Form, and also the most common. They are 7 feet, or 2.1 meters, tall. Their carapace is black with a green sheen. They have two large outer mandibles with a smaller set of inner mandibles, both very sharp and serrated. They are digitigrade, and have three fingers and toes which end in hooked, serrated claws. They have two red glowing compound eyes on their heads. Hidden underneath two plates on their backs are four large, insectoid wings, enablign them to fly short distances.
Builder: A weak, non-combat oriented Form, Builders are one of the more common Krath Forms. They are 6 feet, or 1.8 meters, tall. Their carapace is dark green with a green sheen. They are digitigrade, and have three pairs of arms, ending in five fingers with small claws. They have five toes ending in small claws. They have a single sharp set of mandibles. They have two red glowing compound eyes.
Warmonger: A more powerful, larger variant of the Warrior. They often lead squads of Warriors into battle. They are 2.3 meters, tall. Their carapace is black with a green sheen. They have two rows of spines running down their backs, which can be folded down and are very sharp. They have two pairs of arms, one below the other. The lower arms end in scythe-like blades. They have one set of mandibles, which is sharp and serrated. They are digitigrade, and have three fingers and toes which end in hooked, serrated claws. They have four red glowing compound eyes on their heads. Their back eyes are larger and slightly higher than the front eyes. They lack the wings of their Warrior counterparts.
Warmind: Warminds are large, standing at 2.5 meters. They appear very different from most Krath forms, not being oriented for direct combat. Rather they are four legged, six armed strategic and tactical masterminds. Their arms end in five fingered hands. Their bottom two pairs are slightly smaller and less developed and their main, upper pair, but they are none-the-less useful for manipulating controls, computers, or other such things. The Warmind's carapace is dark green with a purple-green iridescence. They have a very large head, containing a massive, complex brain. They have one pair of mandibles, and three pairs of eyes. Their eyes get larger the further back they are on the Warmind's head. They are digitigrade.
Empress: Only one Empress form can exist at a time, and they can only be female. They are 2.7 meters tall. Their carapace is almost black, with a green and purple iridescence to it. They have a large pair of mandibles, and smaller inner ones as well. They are digitigrade, with a large pair of arms and a smaller, less useful pair at the bottom of their chests. They have four red glowing compound eyes. Their back two eyes are slightly larger than the front two. They have a long, prominent crest that stretches back from their heads, lined on its edges with sharp black spines.
-Average Lifespan (Up to 300): 50 (Warrior), 30 (Builder), 80 (Warmonger), 145 (Warmind), 200 (Empress)
-Protean Alignment (Astral, Nether, Neutral): Nether
-Elemental Base (Carbon, Silicon etc): Carbon
-Average ESPER level (1-7): 1 (5 for Warminds)
-Total Population: 15 billion
+History: The Krath's history is not well known, as their frequent wars and nuclear holocausts have destroyed civilization on their planet several times over. Their oldest surviving records date back only 900 UY, much less than any other species. Nevertheless, their history is still rather extensive and filled with strife.
The Krath homeworld of Syka was once a beautiful, but harsh world. It was eat or be eaten, and in the end, the Krath emerged as the apex predator, having gained not only impressive physical capabilities, but also intelligence. The Krath are insectoid, and lived in underground hives, dug deep into the earth. Their colonies had very specific structures, with the Krath being divided into several subspecies, called Forms. There were workers, warriors, thinkers, and leaders, among others. They had evolved to be highly competetive and aggressive, in order to survive in their environment.
Their technology advanced fast, and soon various colonies began to come into conflict. These conflicts continued, and there was never a time where there was not a war of some sort going on. Massive global conflicts set back civilization hundreds of years. Only once did the Krath ever not kill themselves off before splitting the atom. Almost immediately afterwards, their lush homeworld was turned into a landscape of radioactive death. They were set back hundreds of years, needing to rebuild from scratch. This nuclear holocaust eventually went down in legend as The Great Extinction, with most life on Syka being wiped out.
But the Krath survived, as they always do. They rebuilt. Wars were still frequent, but they remembered the Great Extinction, and knew the consequences if it were to happen again. Thus they began to embark down a slightly (for them, anyway) more peaceful path. 600 years ago, the Krath were still divided into individual colonies, with a few beginning to join together out of common interests, forming nations. The colony of Vayk was one of the most powerful Krath states on the planet. They used their power to their advantage, crushing many smaller colonies. But eventually, 400 years ago, their Queen was deposed, killed by the Matriarch of the Nerkav family. The Matriarch, whose name has been lost to legend, saw a great future for her people, and for all Krath. A future of peace and prosperity. Many tried, but none could kill the Nerkav Queens. Their prowess was unmatched. So they ruled, to this day.
Vayk, under Queen Tanyr-vis Nerkav, eventually united the few remaining Krath nations under their rule, roughly 334 years ago. The nation of Vayk became the Syka Planetary Authority, ruling over the Krath. Rebellions were common and violent, but the SPA endured. With the relative peace, technology advanced much more quickly. The Krath developed space travel and FTL, and began colonizing their solar system and those surrounding. The colonies, predictably, fought amongst themselves, but the SPA kept them in line. Things were going well for the Krath, for now, at least.

-Name: Serilans
-Homeworld: Tayolao (Original), Koyloa (Adopted)
-Physical Appearance: The Serilans are tall, frail humanoids. They stand at 7 feet tall, or 2.13 meters. They have pale, white skin, and long, thin limbs. They have five fingers on their hands. They are plantigrade. Their eyes are sunken into their skulls, and are all black. They lack noses, simply having two slits for nostrils. The same goes for their ears; they are merely holes in the sides of their heads. Their teeth are sharp, and they have long tongues, and no lips. They are hairless, and cover themselves in colored tattoos containing symbols and events from the history of their family line. They are thin and their rib cage is clearly visible on their bare chests, and on their backs the shape of their spinal cord can be seen through their skin. They are extremely flexible and can bend their joints in many, many ways. Their fingers are long and have 4 knuckles, with no fingernails. The same goes for their toes. Instead, on both their fingers and toes they have incredibly sticky pads, like those of a gecko. This enables them to climb on walls or ceilings, and to cling to most surfaces.
-Average Lifespan (Up to 300): 45 years
-Protean Alignment (Astral, Nether, Neutral): Nether
-Elemental Base (Carbon, Silicon etc): Carbon
-Average ESPER level (1-7): 1
-Total Population: 2 billion
+History: The Serilans' recorded history first began approximately 4000 UY ago. Their homeworld of Tayolao was a lush, temperate planet on which the Serilans thrived. Eventually, they took to space, and began to expand. They were divided into two factions, the names of which have been lost with time. Eventually, tensions rose and culminated in a large war that shook the heavens. One faction came out dominant, and formed the Empire of Tayolao. The Empire grew over 2000 years, and became the dominant power in the region. 1000 UY ago, however, the seeds of corruption had finally taken root in the once propserous Empire. Distant systems, tired of oppressive taxation, began to revolt. Politicians put their own interests before those of the Serilan people.
All the while, the old enemies of the Serilans, the Nekrat, watched and waited. Most of the Nekrat population had been enslaved in a brutal war 1200 UY ago. The Nekrat had recovered in secret, and waited to free their enslaved brethren. The Empire continued to deteroriate, and with a little help from Nekrat agents, it began to crumble into ash. Factions arose within the military, further dividing the Empire. Colonies were revolting all over Serilan space. Total civil war broke out, decimating the Grand Armada of the Empire. The once strong government fell, and chaos erupted as basic services such as water, power, education, healthcare and law enforcement broke down. The Serilans starved or were killed by now uncontrolled gang wars and crime lords. The military factions and rebel colonies continued to wage war, decimating hundreds of planets in rage filled genocides conducted by rogue captains or admirals. Tayolao itself eventually came under siege. The battle lasted for months, all sides desperate to control the ancestral homeworld.
Then the Nekrat fleet arrived. The worn down Imperial fleets were crushed swiftly and Tayolao was glassed, the insignia of the Dominion of the Nekrat burned into its surface for eternity. Many more Serilan worlds followed. The Nekrat allowed only a handful to survive, and they were small, backwater colonies with sparse populations and little military protection. The Nekrat would not simply kill the Serilans, for that would be too merciful. Their retribution would be the enslavement of the Serilans, to be used as their lab rats. Their technology was stripped from them, and their remaining worlds occupied. They were used as guinea pigs, subjected to genetic experimentation and other horrifying tests. Several colonies were exterminated outright in bioweapon tests. The Serilan genome was permanently altered, making them faster, stronger, and more agile, but at the cost of extremely fragile genetics and bodies.
The Serilans were prone to cancer and other genetic ailments. Their bodies were made frail from the tests. Even though they could move fast and with the skills of the greatest acrobats, their bones were brittle and their flesh weak. They were a dying race, a failed lab experiment. Eventually, 600 UY ago, the Dominion of the Nekrat came under siege from the Arithin Hegemony, a rival power who fought them for over a hundred years. 492 UY ago, the Nekrat's nation collapsed. The last remaining colony of Serilans was the planet of Koyloa. These Serilans were more fortunate than others, as the Nekrat had largely ignored them. Nevertheless, they were subject to the same crippling genetic issues as the rest of their kind had been.
But still, they survived. Slowly they scavenged Nekrat technology and rebuilt themselves, returning to space. They built themselves a nice little empire in their corner of the galaxy. In 2102 UY, they encountered the Union. Their relatively primitive space forces were no match for them, and their aggressive government saw an opportunity to regain glories past. Unfortunately, the Union was superior and eventually came out on top. They were forcibly integrated as a Client Race, and are just now struggling to get the status of a Member Race, allowing them to have say in the Union's government.

[-Government Sheet-]
-Name: Union of Interstellar States
-Capital (City Name/Planet Name): Tykaal, Verakis
-Member Races: Asathai, Artificials/AI/Droids, Dwerin, Krath, Serilans (Client Race)
-Current Leader: Empress Kzeh-vis Kazuul (Krath), High Councilor Aren Salthan (Asathai), Lord Delin Klorkrak (Dwerin), CU-A-2766 (Artificial), Effector Juul'Hanj-Koyloa II (Serilans)
-Government System (e.g. Democracy, Dictatorship): Democracy (Asathai, Dwerin, and Artificials)/Monarchy (Krath)
-Population: 40 billion (32 billion organic, 8 billion AIs)
+History: The first seeds of the Union of Interstellar States were planted when the aging ASV Eternal made contact with the stranded Dwardrukar. It had, luckily, ended up near an Asathai outpost. The Asathai, who were excited at the prospect of alien contact, generously offered them help. The Dwerin eagerly accepted, and they were given a modified Hyperdrive that could move the Dwardrukar. The ship could then make it to the Asathai outpost, and refueled and resupplied, saving its citizens from starvation. The Asathai's generosity did not end there, however, as they sent out a sizeable portion of their fleet to search for the rest of the Dwerin flotilla. They were eventually located, and the situation was explained. The Dwardrukar rejoined its fleet, and the Dwerin and Asathai became allies. The Asathai provided them with resources and technology, while the Dwerin helped the Asathai by lending them their skilled craftsmen.
145 years ago, almost two decades after first contact, the Dwerin and Asathai enjoyed a prosperous trade relationship. Everything was at peace. But the peace would not last; the Dwerin's old enemies, the Erythn, encountered a small Asathai trade fleet accompanied by a few Dwerin escorts. The Erythn had been looking for their enemies, who they saw as a scourage upon the galaxy, a scourge that n eeded to be destroyed. The Asathai were deemed guilty by association. The Erythn destroyed the trade fleet, and recovered the navigational data of the Asathai ships. They began a surprise campaign of extermination, taking Asathai systems one by one and slaughtering, "re-educating", or enslaving their residents. The Asathai weren't geared for war, and neither were the Dwerin. Their attempts to put up a fight were useless, as the Erythn were more advanced, more numerous, and more well equipped.
In a desperate attempt to escape the genocidal fury of their enemy, the Asathai and Dwerin sent ships out beyond their territory, looking for allies or a place, distant and safe, to call home. They found the former, in the form of the Krath. The expedition fleet stumbled upon the Krath colony of Ukyrpa, and made contact. Negotiations with the warlike aliens proved fruitless, and the situation was about to get heated. But, the fleet had been followed by the Erythn to Ukyrpa, and the Erythn saw these new aliens as disgusting affronts to civilization, guilty by association. So they prepared to cleanse the planet. The Krath were outnumbered and outgunned, and reinforcements would never make it in time. But rather than running away, the fleet of Dwerin and Asathai vessels stood and fought, sacrificing their own lives to protect the colony of hostile aliens. All perished and the colony was glassed.
The war was not going well for the proto-Union. The Erythn were almost to Indath, and much of the Dwerin fleet had been depleted. But their bravery at Ukyrpa had not gone unnoticed, and the considerable war machine of the Krath was brough to bear against the Erythn, fighting alongside the aliens. The intervention of these newfound and unexpected allies turned the tide of the war in the proto-Union's favor, and the Erythn were slowly beaten back. 141 years ago, the allied forces had reached the Erythn's homeworld. But the proud race refused to surrender, promising that if they were allowed to live, they would come back, stronger than ever. Having no choice, the Alliance commanders gave the order, and the planet was burned.
The three species continued to be friends even after the end of the war, and 131 years ago, 10 years after the end of the war, the Declaration of Unity was signed by all three leaders. Their nations merged together into the Union of Interstellar States, brought together by the most destructive conflict in their history. The new Union was a prosperous state, though it had its growing pains. Nevertheless, it thrived.
60 years ago, Union expansion and technology advancement had stagnated. When first contact was made with the imperialist Serilans, however, negotiations quickly broke down and plunged the Union into a second war. The Union was more advanced and had better ships, but the Serilans were more numerous. Moreover, they were adept at infiltration, being excellent at stealth. Their ability to get behind enemy lines unseen caused a lot of havoc among the Union's ranks. The war ended 57 years ago, three years after its beginning, in Union victory. But the victory had been costly. The Serilan homeworld of Nileer was occupied. The first war and the rebellions that followed became known as the Serilan Wars.
55 years ago, forays into artificial intelligence and robotics finally produced results. The results were the Artificials, also called AIs or Droids. The original Artificials were fairly simple, but possessed near sapient-level intelligence, though they had no concept of emotions or feelings. After 5 more years of experimenting, the Artificials had advanced enough to become fully sapient, and were thus granted rights, privileges, and responsibilities only 10 years after their creation. The average Artificial has an IQ of about 115, and though they lack emotions, they have somewhat of a personality. Shortly after their creation, the Artificials were provided with robotic exoskeletons with which to interact with the world.
30 years ago, after a while of integrating with the Union, the Artificials had become effectively ordinary citizens, though with some stigma still attached. Their exobodies had evolved into something of an industry. Artificials were able to purchase varying models of exoskeletons, with different purposes in mind. They could buy a Worker exoskeleton, which was equipped with more advanced motors and hydraulics, for jobs requiring advanced manual labor. They could purchase an exoskeleton designed for science or other jobs that required quick calculations, with more processing power and memory to enable them to think even faster.
29 years ago the first Combat Droid was succesfully tested. Being non-sapient, Combat Droids were given simple armored exoskeletons designed for combat and combat alone. They were cheap to make and easy to mass produce. Combat Droids lacked any personality, emotions, or any attempt to simulate sapient life. In the present, the Droids make up 25% of the Union's armed forces.
Since the Serilan Wars, the Union has entered a technological, social, political, and economic renaissance. The Serilans, still considered an "unofficial" member of the Union, treated as lesser citizens with no governmental representation, are on the verge of either gaining full membership, or independence. Cybernetic augmentations have become commonplace, changing the social, political, and economic dynamics of the Union. The Krath have shown a marked decrease in aggression, unexplained and unprecedented. The Union's navy has been downsized over the years, but is still powerful enough to defend their small amount of space. Exploration has resumed, and with the growing need for more resources and living space, the Union is stepping up the expansion of its territory and military. But some things... aren't right.
Overall, though, 2162 UY is a great year to be a Union citizen.

[-Species Sheet-]
