==Bashmeli's Hive== =Ringworld of Gilmar=
With the new Royal Chamber and Brooding Chambers dug out, Bashmeli would move down. Workers would work in the factories building support beams in order to reinforce the Hive against bombardment. The layers of Hive built in dirt would be completely ignored, but starting with the rooms adjacent to the Royal Chamber, slots would be dug out in order to install the reinforcement beams. Thick steel sheets would be installed between the beams with heavy rivets, the edges welded in to hold up any rock that cracks or breaks. The walls would have painted steel sheets applied to them as well, a black with coloured lines on them to indicate the direction to sections of the Hive.

"It may be crazy, but it works," Shurik said, "we will leave you your gate." he muted the channel and turned to the communications officer, "Inform the captains of the corvettes to begin sweeping the ringworld to try to find the hive, but keep a respectful distance from the ship and the gate, I don't want to start another war before this one is even started." The 4 corvettes in formation around the frigate break formation and fly down towards the ringworld, close enough to scan, but far enough away to be able to avoid any attacks from the surface, they also made sure to stay clear of the gate and alien frigate.

Rachil glanced worriedly at the number of fighters that had been deployed, Uthar had seen it as well, "I assume that this is your FTL gate," he said, "I also assume that your fighters are for defensive purposes only, at least I hope so."

-Jamlar, Isrum Class- "Yes, defensive screen only, its a policy we put together after a rather...INTERESTING...reaction when a small piece of space derbies got lodged in the gate when it was activating." Ixram rolled his eyes slightly, that was probably the best explanation he could give instead of just flat out saying he didn't trust them not to do something. He send telepathic message to the communications officer ~alright, once the gate is ready, I want the gate crew offloaded, We'll burn the corvette and set the gate to destruct once we're gone. I do NOT want these people accessing the gate~

The FTL drive would be stripped off the captured corvette and taken to be reverse engineered. In the meantime, a tactical hyperspace drive would be put on. Replicated from the blueprints that the Hive had gotten from their tractor corvette. This would allow their fleets to stay mobile if they decided to open up and engage their enemy.

-Lukra, Isrum Class- The gate was finally setup as things progressed around it, without much delay, once the gate was operational, the Lukra recalled its strikecraft and slipped through. heading straight for Kethend. The gate itself was left sitting in its geostationary orbit. The gate itself closing the connection once the Lukra was through, the gate staff was still on board though, knowing it wouldn't be long until they returned.
-Jamlar, Isrum Class- With the gate setup, Ixram said very simply "This is our farewell, Perhaps another time We'll see you" With that he signaled to the communications officer who cut the feed, The strikecraft however didn't withdraw. Instead a full 10 more wings were launched, The Jamlar moving towards the gate to prepare for the journey through. They waited no time in docking to the gate, alerting the staff they needed to prepare the gate for self destruct. Ixram closed his eyes, focusing on the ramifications of what he was soon to do. He finally though after a few moments said "...Just recall the fighters, let them live for the moment, Just destroy the gate" the Strikecraft made a single pass around the gate before redocking to the Jamlar, with that they passed through. The gate cutting connection once they were through.

"They're gone." Rachil said, "The ship went through the gate and they're just gone, the gate seems to have shut down as well." Uthar grunted, "I guess they don't want us to get a diplomatic team." he said, "Send a message to Astrila and let's get back to Arlash, let someone else deal with what to do with this gate." Rachil nodded, she set a course for Arlash, powered up the slipstream drive and in a flash of light the corvette entered FTL.

Tarus Emerius.
After metaphorically having been dragged off to the Imperial palace, the fun of these proceedings could begin. To spare you the sort of pain I had to endure, here's a rundown of things....
The moment the Emperor brought the session to order, several of the minor princes were already petitioning for rights to funding which would focus the Empire's effort to develop expeditions to the new homeland and create permanent settlements and fiefdoms. They were opposed by centralist forces who felt letting the small Princes free would decentralize and overextend united Imperial reach, themselves caught in the middle by similarly sized powers who looked out for the sovereignty of individual princes and all overseen by Electors wondering how distant Princes would affect their choice for the next Emperor.
Speaking of the Emperor, he had to draw the line on arguments in more than one occasion, and eventually force a calming down. Three hours later, a motion was before the Diet, one quite pure and simple, without regards to the power-hungriness of the princes: Shall we go forth and colonize the stars around us, or shall we continue bickering until one force or another destroys all the Empire's efforts to reach space?
.. not that such a vote was decisive in the slightest means, but the Diet had mad up its majority mind... we were going to do this for better or worse, and therefore the coalition of small Princes received their colonial funding.

Halfway to Snowflake now. Cai'Ral thought. Bored, she pulled her workslate out from her hand luggage bag, and brought up the Aircomm browser. The space bus operator company had quite thoughtfully fitted the vessel with WiFi, so coverage wasn't a problem. Tapping the on-screen keyboard for a few seconds, she typed in the address for the Ciranan Broadcasting Group's news site. It took a few seconds to load, and she pawed through it. After a while, a link at the side caught her eye - a Science and Technology article about the International Technology Fair. Weird. I thought that was from a few months back? after clicking on the link, the article's page flashed up, and Cai'Ral began reading it.
Several months ago, the LAN-organised International Technology Fair showcased for us the future of our gadgets and devices. The Fair allowed numerous projects to get backing from both private and corporate investors, as well as getting them exposure to the general public. Well, over the past several days, a number of those projects have been coming to fruition. The MOC expressed interest in many of the proposed technologies, so we may be seeing some new war designs in orbit sometime soon. Below, we'll talk about those technologies that have reached the completion of their development and are ready to be put into commercial production.
Cai'Ral flicked the screen to scroll the page down a bit. There were several pictures; showing a new weapon labelled as a 'Neutron Beam', a digital representation of the latest fusion reactor designs, and a warp drive's rings around what appeared to be a corvette. She laughed out loud at that.

==Bashmeli's Hive== =Ringworld of Gilmar=
The Hive would arm the corvettes with missiles designed to fit into the missile tubes that they put on. They would have a larger warhead and a longer range with a 3Kt warhead instead of a 2.5Kt warhead. The Gauss Guns would have specialty warheads loaded in to deal with armour on enemy ships. The Corvette would be of a lower quality than the stolen vessel, but as the Hive got better at producing their own vessels the quality and originality of their ships would improve as well.

Tarus Emerius So yes, the Kravan group got its way with the Diet once again through sheer solidarity in the face of its larger contenders. And eager to get them out of here, their plans to begin construction of ships which could colonize the new homeland [which I discovered, mind you!!] went underway in the days and weeks after the Diet's convention. This left me back in Emerian country soon enough, content to ponder my expedition and our findings in earnest. I'd get to furthering my personal as well as my Imperial interests soon enough.

Pride Of Fyrenne was a very large structure, providing fuel, repairs and provisions to a lot of Ta'Yal's orbital traffic. Both Ry'Entyall and Cirana had more advanced stations, but none quite so large. Partly, that was because they didn't need to be, but the upshot was Pride Of Fyrenne had a lot more space and facilities. Na'Ryll had just deboarded from the Star Lifter passenger shuttle that had brought her up from Site Charlie, Fyrenne's primary MOC base. Having been forced to leave her groceries behind, Na'Ryll had no food on her, and had begun to feel hungry. She stopped off at one of the nearby shops, then looked around for a sign to the orbital bus terminals. That didn't take long, and soon she was gliding through the station's corridors in microgravity, occasionally taking a bite and a sip from the food bar and drinks pouch she'd bought, respectively.

Being the "militant" and "great" explorer that I was, it fell on me as the arch-marshal to oversee that the production of all these ships went as smoothly as possible. After completing what administrative work I had to do for the Electorate, it was back into space with me in very short order, again on Imperial orders. If my skepticism about this whole situation had climaxed before, it truly hadn't.

The Union of Interstellar States was a prosperous nation. They were advanced in all areas of technology, and in culture. They had existed for over a hundred years as a unified entity now, and had grown to incorporate 5 species.
But in their years of stagnation with no contact with new species, their space fleet had dwindled somewhat. Their ships, though up to date and top of the line, were few in number. They fielded 4 Verakis-class Frigates, 3 Indath-class Destroyers and 3 Syka-class Cruisers. Their older construction vessels had been scrapped, and their five remaining shipyards were now building the new Monument-class constructors. Research teams had been put to work as well, looking into getting what they needed to start building carriers of some sort.
---
Captain Tazr-var Telak sat in the chair overlooking the bridge of his ship, the UNS Justice. It was an Indath-class Destroyer, and part of the 3-ship task force sent to investigate strange FTL-like readings in an area near Union space. They had managed to narrow the location down to just 3 systems. The Justice had scouted out two, and was coming up on the third. "Next stop..." Tazr read off his PAD, sounding quite bored. "SS-3275-JG2. Main sequence K-Type star, unknown planets if any. God's damned typical." He said.
"Yes, Captain, it is typical. Quite typical. It is estimated that upwards of 12% of all main-sequence stars are K-Type. Their average temperature is roughly 5200 degrees kelvin, which incidentally is also the approximate temperature of the plasma emitted by our weapons arrays. K-Type stars, in diameter, average a-" The Artificial manning the ship's helm, U-37024-K, had a habit of speaking too much and taking everything literally. Before he could go on another one of his tangents, Tazr interrupted him. "Yes, yes, 24. We all took basic astronomy." He said, dismissively. "I was only trying to provide assistance. Apologies, Captain." 24 said.
A few hours passed, the crew continuing to do what they do. "Captain, we are coming out of Warp now." 24 said. Tazr jolted up from his slightly dazed state. He had begun to fall asleep. Hopefully nobody had noticed. The entire ship shook as the warp bubble collapsed, rocketing the vessel back into realspace. "The Deliverance and the Indomitable are exiting Warp." 24 added. The two Verakis-class frigates dropped out of warp behind the Justice. "Begin a scan of the system. I want to know if there any ships he-" Tazr was interrupted by his science officer, the young Asathai Yeean Jultak. "Captain, I'm detecting... something... what in the name of the home star..." She said. "Put it on the viewscreen." Tazr commanded. The ship's viewscreen lit up.
"What... is that?" Tazr asked, staring at the... thing. 24's ocular camera whirred as he focused on the screen. "It appears to be a... ring world. Thought to be theoretical. It seems our scientists were right." 24 said. "It has a circumference of 733,112,620 million kilometers. Surface is habitable. We are also detecting 13 vessels of unknown configurations. 8 of them appear to have roughly similar designs." Yeean reported. "Contact the largest vessel of those eight." Tazr said. A message was sent over radio. It was a data file containing the Union's language data.

"Admiral, 3 ships just dropped out of FTL near the edge of the system, at least as large if not larger then this vessel." the helmsman said, "You have got to be kidding me." Shurik said, he was quite fed up with all of this, this was supposed to be a simple mission, go in, take care of the hostile aliens, retrieve or destroy the C-249 Discovery, and then go home, instead it was turning into an alien encounter buffet. "They're sending us a transmission," the communications officer said, "it's a set of language files."
