[Kingdom of Athos] [Gilmar System, RMS Imperium]
Fyran shook his head in disbelief as he looked at the sensor results: what they were looking at was, indeed, a massive ring-shaped planet... thing encircling a star. By all appearances the world was artificially-constructed, but who or what would have the technological capability to build something that massive? He trembled slightly, and turned to the communication officer, "Contact Command, inform them of our findings, request orders," then, facing the XO, "Bring us into a solar orbit just inside that ring, and have the science dept. run more in-depth scans on the surface. We'll proceed from there," he stood, ad left the bridge.

The noble would stay back with glee. "Yes, we barely know how our own ship works! Would you be willing to instruct us in how your vessel operates? Maybe we could glean a better idea of how our own vessel works by observing how your crew goes through the motions. It would go a long way to garnering favour with our Queen."

"I'm not engineer," Ricardo said, "I just know how to use the corvette, not how the systems actually work." he glanced back at the scientists, "Are any of you engineers?" he asked, they shook their heads, "The Senate didn't think engineers would be needed for this voyage." the head engineer replied.

Sa'Ral shoved his bag into the overhead luggage rack, and took a few moments to check it was properly positioned before taking a seat below it. The maglev was quiet, but for the other people boarding. The PA system on the platform announced a leaving train, and through the window, Sa'Ral could see the other train's lights moving off. Knowing it'd be a while before his own train was due to leave, he pulled down a hatch in the back of the seat in front of him, revealing a small computer screen. On it were options for entertainment and refreshments. He chose refreshments, then selected a drinks pouch and a packet of sweets. A vacuum tube overhead swiftly delivered them, and he ripped open the bag to begin eating.
Ten minutes later, the PA made another announcement, and an electronic whine filled the air. The maglev lifted up off the tracks, and began accellerating away. Sa'Ral lay in his seat, fast asleep.

Tarus Emerius I kept sentinel over everyone as we closed in. The sensor operators, shut up by the more detailed information they're being forced to plow through in order to construct a full report on this system allowed the rest of us to get to work on a proper goal. We took the ship from planet to planet, looking for habitable or relatively habitable worlds to survey. Many of the more cramped Principalities back home were paying top dollar for hopes of this sort of stuff, after all, looking for fiefs among the stars. I don't know why I deeply sighed at this thought.

Captain Daria of the Warspite currently occupied her stateroom. It was a large officer's quarter with a bathroom and a wardrobe. It also had a desk and a computer, some virtual windows, and a bed. It was spartan, but larger than anything enlisted could hope for. She was seated at the desk, looking over reports and personnel logs. The ship was in good condition, nothing bad to speak of.

-Jamlar, Isrum class- The communications officer gave another shout "Return transmission, somewhat more clear, nothing but garbled numbers" Ixram moved over to see, the comms station attempting to print out on screen the numbers, The Ixram looked to the offer, who only looked back and said "I...I think they just sent us some sort of garbled binary", Ixram just shook his head slightly "Any idea what it is?", "I'm no computer tech, I have no clue what it might be", "Don't let the computer interpret it, just to be safe. Anyone here read binary?" all around the bridge there was a general "no" given, Ixram paused for a moment to think, then tapped a button to speak over the intercomm "Someone who can read binary, please report to the bridge, its rather urgent"

Rachil tapped her claws on the side of her chair, "Nothing back so far," she said, Uthar grunted, "Any communications from Arlash?" he asked, "Only that we are to remain where we are and continue attempts to contact the alien ship." Rachil replied, "Oh, and their sending another C-249 our here to back us up with a proper diplomatic team." Uthar looked down at the radar which showed the positions of the alien ship, "Well," he said, more to himself then to Rachil, "they'd better hurry up."

[Planet Kyst]
"Forgetton may be the words of those who describe us, smoke and ash asserted themselves over the blaze that was our civilizations. But no longer will we be the rabble thrown under the triumphant, we are not those to be discarded as fools and unwise! The sins that tainted our societies are hunted down, the virtuous lead our future generations, we are posed no threats as we develop ships to cross the stars."
"And those who dare defy our blameless, incorruptible and upstanding life, will know what we have suffered. None can be spared on our great expeditions, we are the rightful, they are the sinful, the cleansing and seeding, shall begin."
-Kysterit Priest Mahet
_______________________________________________________________________________________________ [Captain Erick Wolfgang]
"I suggest that you take some medication. With how little you talk with anyone you know, along with all that stress...You need to calm down and get some help-"
"I don't want help. Not that kind. I have enough pills to swallow prior to putting on the uniform."
"Well, why not talk with your friend again? You said she made you feel more alive than anyone else, what prevents you from doing so?" Black lines appeared between lines while a hand moved quickly from left to right, the movements quick with little hesitation. The massive room- with it's length more alike to a hall -was the size of your average cathedral, strangely most of it was empty. Except the center, with green cushions laying about on some furniture, a chair and a couch, fur only the most rich could afford was put under the furniture. A rug, a simple rug.
"She hasn't replied to any of my calls. She does this all the time- we talk for a few hours, then she disappears for months. I tell her, 'You motivate me, I have a goal in life thanks to you!' and she says all those sweet things, then tells me she has business to tend to... 'Business'." Before the man said anything, ringing echoed throughout the hall, the noise eventually ended as a hand tapped the button ontop of a small clock. "Seems like you're done for today, Erick. I suggest you don't stay around for too long, but if your job and relationship with friends becomes too distant, I do advise you give up on your current career. It would be dangerous for both you and those you're in service with if you began to experience more...radical, emotions. Or maybe you could try to make friends with someone more closer to you, physically?"
"My officers don't want me to make any friends with anyone. Not unless they're outside the military, but you would know how little that matters." A military coat was taken off of a coat hanger stand, arms pushing through the sleeves and buttons connecting, a belt was wrapped around the waist, and a officer's cap was put on. "I'll come back for my final talk next week." With that, the sound of boots echoed, before a door was opened and then shortly after, closed.
(If my post is shit, I blame the fact I have no food and that I'm tired.)

-Jamlar, Isrum Class- After several moments of no response, the communications officer said "I don't think we have anyone who can read binary on board" Ixram just shook his head, "Alright, guess we'll have to try and get the machine to translate" a few quick setting changes and the binary readout was interpreted, the resulting readout wasn't much butter though, being nothing but a vast assortment of scrambled letters and numbers. The computer simply prompting that its unable to read the code. The officer just looked to Ixram, "What now?", "I'm not entirely sure, this social stuff isn't exactly part of training...Go ahead and just try to radio a message over" The officer seemed to visibly sicken at the very concept, prompting Ixram to try and send the message himself, sating very simply over the radio "This is the Jamlar, we hear"

"There sending a radio transmission," Rachil said, "I'll put it on the speakers." A voice was played over the Corvette's speakers, but the language was unlike anything that Uthar or Rachil had heard before and they couldn't make heads or tails of it. "I guess they weren't able to decode our message or our language files." Rachil said. Uthar grunted, then paused, "Try opening up a video feed," he said, "maybe we can communicate through means other then speak-able language." Rachil frowned, turning to Uthar, "What do you mean?" she asked, "We could use hand motions and other signs to try to get them to send their language files over." Rachil nodded slowly, "That might work." she said, she turned back to the computer and began a video feed, relaying towards the alien ship, hopefully they would realize what it was a put it up on their screen, if they had one.

-Jamlar, Isrum Class- The communications officer took the console back once a return signal was detected, "Captain? its a video signal, that I can clear pretty well", Ixram took a somewhat bewildered look before saying "Alright, Put the video signal through" The holographic displays in the bridge shifted, setting up a screen to display the video on. Ixram took position towards center of the bridge, seeing the first few seconds of the video feed, everyone on the bridge in silence at the sight. He didn't wait long though before shouting "Alright, relay the video across the ship, Return video feed" He wasn't entirely sure how to even try dealing with this situation, given the first thing that came to mind was ~Just what in the world am I looking at, is THAT what a land dweller is suppose to look like?~

"Receiving a return video feed," Rachil said, "Putting it on screen." The main screen switched to the video feed from the alien ship, at first, Uthar almost forgot the plan, these aliens were so unlike them it was ridiculous, and the entire room he was looking at appeared to be full of water. But then again, what had he expected, that they'd be like the Arthan? Remembering the plan, Uthar began trying to sign to them, talking as he did "We need your language files." he said, pointing to his mouth with one claw and then to the computer that was visible from their feed with another. He had no idea if they'd be able to understand what he meant, but it was worth a shot.

Having nothing else to do, Daria stood and left her desk. She stripped down in the bathroom and took a shower. Afterwards she dried herself and tossed the towel into the laundry chute. She then brushed her fur to get any tangles out, or any debris left. She put on the black officer's uniform of the Confederation Space Forces, and then the cap and boots. She looked in the mirror and adjusted her uniform, smoothing out any wrinkles. After she was satisfied she went back to her desk to see if any updates arrived. Her orders had just been sent.

[Status Report]
With the two recent alien encounters, one withing IAR borders, the senate's viewpoint towards the production of military starships has changed drastically. A week ago, a vote to invest in military vessels would have been shot down quickly, now, however, is a different story. The Senate has voted to use some of the ship designs put forward by their top aerospace engineers for military purposes, also, Chancellor Diablo Irtalma has commissioned the shipyards in orbit over Astrila to begin construction on several ships of these designs. In a statement made earlier today Chancellor Irtalma said that "to have peace, we must have security."

-Jamlar, Isrum Class- Ixram just watched, trying to think what they could be trying to communicate. It was at least simple enough to understand they were trying to communicate, He looked to the communications officer, who just shook his head. One of the sensor officer said "Oh oh oh! this is sorta like that one movie wh-" the others cut him a glance, Ixram rolled his eyes and said "let him continue", "...Alright, so what happened was they couldn't speak, the monsters, so what they did was they made these hand motion things to communicate", "Thats fairly obvious", "Ya well, Maybe they are meaning something with the computers?" Ixram looked to the communications officer, who in turn checked his own console to see no updates, he said "maybe they want us to send something?", "Give it a try, not much can go wrong" The officer then sent a digital message, a sort of language test* signal

"They just sent over a digital message," Rachil said, Uthar glanced over at her "makes no sense to me though, and no language files yet..." Uthar clicked his mandibles in frustration, "Well, that's half way there." he muttered, he turned back to the screen and nodded very obviously, he REALLY hoped they interpreted nodding the same way. Then he began pointing at his mouth with one claw as he talked again, then he pointed at them with another arm, then at the computer again with a third arm.

Daria read her orders over slowly to ensure she got all of it. Her ship would test the new warp drive. It would jump to nearest colony system of Rorsch and make contact with the colonial authorities. If the situation there was unsatisfactory, she'd return home and describe the situation. Pretty straight-forward really.

-Jamlar, Isrum Class- "Well, that got some sort of response", Ixram just looked at the video feed trying to figure out two things. The first being why the creature had so many arms, the second being what it was trying to communicate. Ixram finally looked to the sensor officer that had spoke up before, "Any idea?", The officer just shrugged. Ixram thought for a few moments, the communications officer speaking "Maybe they're wanting some sort of code?", "Maybe a language code?", "That could be it, should I send a codex?", "See to it, something as basic as possible". The communications officer just had the computer send a quick packet, it was a somewhat simple override command, sending the same message as before except with a language qualifier attached, roughly in the hopes that it'd be useable for translation.
-Orbital Fleet at Kethend- With more Isorma online, one is sent to the Isura at B-491, while another was prepared to send after the Jamlar. During this time the Lukra was dispatched, the crew was on partial alert though given there was a slight gravitational effect confirmed to be on the other end, determined mostly from how the gate formed. A Isorma would be ready to dispatch after it, set so that it would arrive a day later. It would take time for the ships to be deployed, leaving those on Kethend itself the time to debate on where to send the next exploration to once the Jamlar and Lukra returned.

"They've sent another message," Rachil said, "Looks like the same thing as before, but also..." she paused, typing on the computer, "OK, I got it." she said, "It's a type of language file, not in the same style as we use, but the translator should be able to process it." Uthar sighed with relief, he had thought he'd have to keep doing these signs for ages, Rachil was inserting the code into the translation program that was on board, until now it had been used for dealing with the thousands of separate languages among the Arthan. "It's been accepted," Rachil said, "we should be able to understand anything they say now." "What did their earlier message say?" Uthar asked, "A rather random sentence," Rachil replied, "Probably to see if we could understand." Uthar nodded, "Can you patch the translator into the video feed so it translates back to them?" he asked, glancing at the aquatic aliens on screen. "I think so," Rachil said, she typed on the computer for a few seconds, "OK, the audio is being run through the translators both ways, they should be able to understand us now." Uthar turned back to the screen and said "Can you understand me now?"

[RESEARCH] Beamed Power: Lasers [7/20] [CONSTRUCTION] [5/5 IN USE] 3x Guardian Frigate [7/14] 2x Hope Frigate [7/14]
Space buses were large inter-lunar spacecraft, designed solely for fairly short-distance travel in space, commonly between a planetary system's moons or asteroids that were close together. The one Cai'Ral could see resting on a landing pad was an older model, with a pitted hull and grimy passenger windows. The latter was a result of dirt and oil hanging around space stations' docks that had accumulated there over the years. A worker had just checked her boarding pass, and she was now gliding through an umbilical that connected the space bus to Ne'Pozza's main colony's spaceport. Other passengers ahead and behind her occasionally used a hand to push themselves away from the umbilical's wall when they got too close. She had a lot more experience with low-G though, so barely had to push herself off the floor every so often when the little moon's gravity slowly pulled her down, whilst staying right in the centre of the passage. Finally, she reached an airlock, where a female in uniform was welcoming people on board.
"Please have a nice flight." she said. Cai'Ral gave a gesture of agreement before moving on. Wouldn't want to get in the way of the person behind me. People have a lot of mass. She looked around. This deck carried all the in-flight refreshments. There was a microwave and a drinks-pouch filling machine sitting in cubbyholes between cabinets and fridges. In the centre, there was a hole in both the forward and tailward bulkheads and a ladder ran through them. If she remembered correctly, the galley was tailward from here, and there was a cargo room access hatch back there. Yeah, great! I'll know where to find my rucksack if I need it. Get on with getting out of the way already... she scolded herself, and grabbed the ladder. She quickly pulled herself along it, heading forward for deck 6, where her seat was. Seeing a sign with the Ciranan symbol for six hanging off the ladder, she pushed off and looked around again. Now she was in a compartment full of seats, and she found the one that had been reserved for her. The Space Commodore maneuvered herself into position, then strapped in. In deference to the low-G dwellers that commonly used the space bus, it wouldn't use the high accelleration that its open-cycle gas core nuclear engine could provide it. Instead, it would simply apply a small rate of acceleration, but do so continuously. Overall, the service was quite fast. Since Cai'Ral was headed for the Snowflake spaceyard where Confidence was undergoing its final engineering checks, the trip wasn't going to take long. The spaceyard wasn't too far away, and was only the space bus' second stop.
She lay back in her seat and started waiting for the vessel to lift off.

The orders said to execute as soon as possible upon receipt. So that was why the crew was brought to full complement, Daria thought. She felt some excitement well up in her. The warp drive was relatively untested, it had only done in-system jumps. Vorskel ships had to gone to other stars at a plodding 0.4 C. That was how the colonies were made. Never before had a ship traveled beyond the light barrier. And Daria would be known as the captain of the first interstellar mission with FTL. That would look good on her record. It was good as is, except for some minor disobedience charges and playing loose with some of the regs.
