Well, gonna finally do an AAR of my own, lets get this shit started. Rome: Total War, with the Total Realism mod installed. Take two, since stupid backspace feature wiped what I was writing.
Lets see... no house rules to impose artificial difficulty onto us, those are stupid. Campaign difficulty is going to be set to normal, while battle difficulty is set to very hard. I want competent battle AI and strategic AI, not fucktarded strategic AI. Along with no battle time limits on.
Every IC post in this will be roughly a year to two and a half years, so 2-5 turns per post roughly.

But onto business I need to deal with itself. Macedonia is in shambles, with the southlands divided between the rebellious Greek cities and those that remain under Macedonian control. Poor incomes drawing from them, they seem to get the brunt of military upkeep. Their garrisons are either small, ill-equipped, or for the most part across the nation. Both. I think a entire rework of our garrisons are in order, but for now, consolidating forces that are of good quality must be done. Returning to traditional heavy infantry will be my first goal of all our armies.
Northern Macedon is in a better position, not divided between rebellion. But it maintains income and garrison quality problems. But consolidation of forces from them will be easier, along with building better infrastructure. I already have ordered engineers to deal with building extra mining infrastructure in the region of Thessalonica. But for now, the region will have to remain partially undeveloped due to our lack of money.
I sent out a messenger before the armies camped this summer, ordering all near by cities to centralize their heavy hoplites upon me. Within weeks, I had several more regiments at my disposal along with several more coming in. I sent a few out to maintain orginization, but within the next few weeks a new Macedonian army will be raised to defend our lands. Traditional Macedonian warfare, our long spears should allow us to maintain superiority to the damnable Greeks in the south who dared to declare their independence from us.
The treasury was also in a good state, disbanding a hefty amount of garrison units to rework them should net us 4,000 Tetradrachm to allow for unit retrainings and garrison recruitment. I will most likely have them replaced with Peltasti and other irregular units, with Hoplites to supplement in Southern Greece due to how cheap they are.
First winter on the throne was very interesting. A high ranking Macedonian captain came to me, quite promising. Asked to be adopted into the royal family. After getting his assurances that he would be excluded from the direct line of succession in the case of my death, I consented. You can never have too many governors in your Empire. Gods knows that many of our southern cities lie un-administered.
Though beyond continuing to levy garrisons into all of our cities to replace the poor quality troops that were formerly there and coalescing my army, the only things of note was attempted diplomacy with the Greeks. They rejected all of our offers, including simple information about what is going on with the world. They have multiple armies stationed on our borders, so I believe they are going to attack. I also sent word to my family members and generals. My army would be the model army they train and strive to emulate.
Meanwhile, a spy operating in our name infiltrated a Greek army. Poor levy hoplites, but they have lots of them on our borders. He proceeded to give us information about the garrison in a Greek city. Simply a single unit of half-decent troops, would be an easy conquest. Might move up in the summer to take the city.
The Illryians and Thracians sent diplomats down during the winter. Got trade-rights out of them, along with world information. They might make useful allies later, but for now they have rejected all talks of alliance. The Greeks continue to sit on our border, but as I was figuring out a plan to deal with them, a messenger came in. He represented a young nobleman who wished to marry into the royal family.
He was an amateur general, but he was bright minded and willing and able to learn. I invited him into my tent at the army's camp and we began to talk. He told me about himself, and his talents. He was a poor administrator from what I got, telling me of several failed business ventures. But he had the general ideas of command down which he gleaned from studying our pride Alexander during his childhood. I accepted his offer as night fell and sent him away with one of my servants for him and my family to begin making marriage preparations.
I also used treasury funds to begin the training and drafting of a new army for Macedon. I would put it under command of my new son-in-law or possibly my son. Perhaps both? Pondering that will need to be figured out when I receive word that the army is ready to be fielded.

End of the first year and a half of this AAR. Before I go on, tell me what you think of it. Feedback would be incredibly nice for this, as I have not done this before.

+Antigonos I, King of Macedon+
Summer, 280
43 years. 43 years ago Alexander died. 43 years and a day ago, Macedonia dominated the known world. 43 years and a day before now, Macedonian armies had marched from our homes in Greece to the borders of the wildmen in India. 43 years ago, Greek culture was the dominant culture in the world. Now, we are nothing. The largest remnant of us lies bickering with its client territories, fighting border wars with our old holdings in Egypt. Macedonia itself is a pale, meek shadow of its former glory. So now, I take command. Antigonos, King of Macedon. I like the title, it suits my ambitions. But onto business I need to deal with itself. Macedonia is in shambles, with the southlands divided between the rebellious Greek cities and those that remain under Macedonian control.
