So basically my idea was an RTS with space and ground combat and a strategic turn based layer on top of it all. The only game I can think of that does this is Empire at War and to a lesser extent Total War. Ground Combat Bullet points - Large maps (think theatre of war, ruse, and the wargame series)
- Based around landing zones that you call in units at from a pool of units in orbit.
- Fast paced 'realistic' combat (again like wargame series)
- Orbital support like airstrikes and bombardments
- Fortifications that appear in the battle if the defender invested in them
- Destructible base buildings that affect the strategic layer.
- Ability to zoom out and see the entire battlefield (like supcom)
- visible command center in background at high zoom (ruse)
Space combat bullet points - 3D Battlespace (homeworld)
- Ability to fully zoom out to see the entire battlespace
- maps consist of the entire system/planet's gravwell
- fleets centered around a player designated flagship (loss of which = defeat)
- boarding craft that can take over enemy ships
Strategic view bullet points - Instead of cities or provinces you have systems
- Buildable structures in space and on the ground
- Structures are destroyable on tactical layer
- Agents like spies, assassins, smugglers, and bounty hunters
- Randomly generated General and Admiral characters with unique stats
- diplomacy
- stealth fleets that can insert raid ground forces
