January 15th, 845 CE
The world of Galfren is in a frenzy. The Great Powers of the world gear up for war as a incident between the Federal Republic of Felmen's Land and the Kingdom of Ulrani threatens to ignite the world into war. A skirmish between the destroyer FRWS Spearhead and the light cruiser CAS White Bluff resulting in the deaths of dozens of sailors on both sides and heavy damage of the FRWS Spearhead. Ulrani, expecting the Republic to back down, would demand excessive reparations to be paid by Febuary 15th, 845 CE or they would lead the Dual Coalition into war with the Federal Republic.
The vast seas of Galfren seperate these nations, with their powerful nations plying the seas between their lands. Political manuvering would keep the power balanced, alliances shifting every few years as one nation pulled ahead. Their navies and armies pressing for more and more funding in the face of a decades old arms race that soured diplomatic relations between them, a powderkeg set off by this incident.
The navies of the world, prepared for a shooting-war, would attempt to bolster their forces by recruiting some of the many mercenary vessels of the world. Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers all privately owned and acting as sell-guns would flock to the conflict zones as privateers, mercenaries, transports, or even patriots fighting for their country by jingo.
---GREAT POWERS--- Western Alliance -Federal Republic of Felmen's Land -Republic of Talrithi -Second Relthen Empire
Dual Coalition -Kingdom of Ulrani -Umfrenti Empire
Unaligned Powers -Federated States of New Halthen -Grand Duchy of Halthen ----
From this point onwards, it's your choice where to go and what you do -You can sell your ship to the highest bidder, bolstering the navy of a great power with more firepower -Board freighters and take their cargo, making a killing by siezing and reselling valuable military assets -Enlist your crew and serve your home nation faithfully, by jingo -Make a killing transporting in-need military equipment past blockades

Home Nation: Republic of Talrithi Important Gear: .45 inch pistol, 1x3" binoculars. Captain: Y (RTS Endurance)
-Ship Format- Name: RTS Endurance Class: Housecarl Light Cruiser Role: Sea patrol/blockade runner interception Description: Endurance is 178 metres in length with a slightly angular, needle-shaped hull with anti-torpedo bulges to either side under the waterline. Strong iron outriggers keep the main central hull firmly connected to two corvette secondary hulls on either side. The hull is painted in dark blue and sea green dazzle camoflage. On the central hull's deck is a big superstructure, with the bridge high and forward. Three tall funnels sit in a V-shape in the centre, and tall masts hold searchlights, flags and radio equipment. A flag bridge is mounted on a tall pier halfway between the main bridge and the funnels. Another searchlight tower is mounted on both of the secondary hulls. Behind the bridge is a raised fire control deck. The primary weapons are mounted in turrets fore and aft of the superstructure, with the exception of a slightly smaller turret behind the fore communications mast. Secondary turrets are mounted to either side of the superstructure and a couple are fitted to each secondary hull. --Bio-- Name: Lorcan Lorain Age: 51 Gender: Male Appearance: Roughly 5'8 and almost albino skin, He has short cut blond hair and a slight stubble on the chin. His left eye is covered by a white patch, while his right is a sharp green. He overall has some slight muscle though looking like he's partly starved. He wears Brown pants with a simple black shirt, overwhich he wears a Grey trench coat with various "trophy" decorations attached to it here and there and a bit patchworked. He keeps simple black boots and a black patrol cap. This is only complimented by his age showing a bit to much. History: An Ex-Naval officer, he was honorably discharged about fourteen years ago. His vessel was released from service and no other command could be found for him. Pulling a few favors from the admiralty he was able to aquire the decomissioned vessel as a "parting gift" from the service. Over the years he and the vessel have acted out on the sea, providing escort for various merchant convoys. The few serious confrontations have left him a little battered, along with claiming sight from his left eye, though he still serves out on the seas currently. Home Nation: New Halthen Important Gear: A silver Telescope and a .308 Revolver Captain: Y -Ship Format- Name: Jotun Class: Panther Class Role: Heavy Escort Description: Panther ClassArmament- 2x Quad 8"/50 Turrets 2x Tri 8"/50 Turrets 14x Dual 4"/45 Dual Role Turrets 6x Quad 40mm/70 AA Turrets Notes: The Panther class 8inch guns work off specialized two stage shells, Removing the powder bag charge at the cost of introducing case discharge. Due to the nature of the two stage shells, this significantly reduces the danger of magazine detonation though slows loading times. However the Panther is an aged design, most notable for the relatively slow speed and lack of a fire control tower. Fire control instead relying on spotters reporting to the command room.

The Jotun was moving under speed with a merchant convey, all guns pointed to port at the horizon. Lorcan himself was sitting in the radio room of all places, leaning back in a chair. For the past day or so he had been talking back and forth with a pair of destroyers that had sent a rather threatening message to the merchant fleet. Despite the apparent privateer nature of the destroyer captains, no shots had been fired yet. This was far out in the open seas and as the one captain put it "I don't think anyone wants sunk out here", The Jotun had trained its guns in the general target area ages ago despite this. Lorcan said over the radio "Don't suppose you got any decent word on how things are back in New Halthen, haven't been to port there in maybe two years"

The harbour was a busy place, and an irritated Lt. Commander Ayres arrived at the gangplank more than ten minutes overdue. A side party hastily assembled on the deck to greet him. He turned to face the flag hanging off the main searchlight tower, and saluted at it, before facing back to the crewmen. They saluted at him in a comfortable but practiced way, and only put their hands back by their sides when he returned the salute. He headed fore toward the bridge, looking up as he did so. Beyond the tall superstructure and taller radio masts was a grey, dour sky. Despite this though, his mood was lifting. Finally, after her refit, the Endurance could put back to sea. She currently rested almost motionless in a special drydock that could hold her triple-hulled form, but water lapped at her in the breeze, and smoke lazily coiled from the funnels. She was ready and raring to go, as was her crew. If he was the last officer here, they would make for the harbour exit almost as soon as Ayres could enter the bridge and give the command.
With the irritation leaving him, and a sense of anticipation building, he energetically climbed a flight of steps up into one of the higher decks of the superstructure. From there he could take a companionway up to the bridge, where officers would be waiting for him. "Captain on deck!" one of them shouted. Ayres nodded at him, and said "I have the deck. Is the anchor up?" The talker informed him that it hadn't been needed in the calm drydock, but some of the deck ratings were being sent to ensure it was properly stowed. Despite knowing that the admiralty preferred its commanders to project an image of stoicism, Ayres smiled. "Take her out, Lieutenant Halsey. All ahead dead slow." A few seconds later, the engine order telegraph gave a satisfying ding, and the rumbling that was both a noise and a feeling through the deck rose in volume noticeably. "All ahead dead slow aye." replied Halsey, who also seemed to be supressing outward signs of happiness. Water roiled at the cruiser's stern, signifying the winding up of its huge bronze screws, and the ship slowly nosed its way out of the drydock.

After several moments of no reply, Lorcan repeated "Any word on how things are in New Halthen?". a few moments wait again alerted him to nothing but static, he grumbled and hollered over the ship comm to the spotters "Any idea where our little friends just went? they appear to of gone silent". The spotters responded simply "Smoke over the horizon, somethings burning" Lorcan grumbled and got up, switching radio channel to the one for the merchant fleet, alerting very simply "Smoke on the horizon, you want me to check it out?" the merchantman simply replying "No, don't want to risk you being to far" Lorcan shook his head, then put down the handheld for the radio. He begun to move from the radio room to the spotting deck, heading out the door, up the stairwell and onto deck. He didn't even have to go up to the spotters deck, he could spot the smoke in the distance. Giving a shout to the spotters "ANYTHING IN THE DISTANCE?", a moment after response coming "NEGATIVE! NOTHING I CAN SPOT"

-World- February 10th would approach, with both sides of the conflict scrambling to mobilize their navies and armies for all-out war. Employment would be aplenty for those who needed a ship to sign onto, or a navy to employ their guns.
-Abdel Nasser al Mahemit- Abdel would stand on the bow of his vessel, looking over the ocean before him. His ship had been trailing a freighter for a few days, a small one that was loaded down with plenty of cargo to slow it. Easy prey for a Abdel's crusier. The freighter would pull up onto the horizon, finally falling behind enough for the Liberty to get a view of them. The Liberty's crew would take action as Abdel would pull off the bow and head to the CIC. The guns would be trained for long-range bombardment of this freighter and fire would be opened. None of the shots would strike but they would send a clearer message of the Liberty's intentions as they came closer to this freighter, firing another barrage of which one shell would hit the deck of the freighter.

The Endurance had gathered its consorts in the harbour before making its way out into the open sea, with the harbourmaster's permission of course. Behind the cruiser was seaplane tender Advantage, and surrounding them were the Destroyer Escorts (or frigates) Boundless, Encounter and Valuable providing primarily an anti-air and anti-sub screen. The heavy firepower was concentrated in Endurance herself.
Though Sean wanted to tell the engineers to go full speed, just to feel the power beneath him, he knew this flotilla was constrained by the speed at which the ponderous Advantage could travel. So, even once Endurance became free of the harbour, it was nevertheless still shackled. "All ahead half, revolutions 800."
It would be several hours until the light cruiser, the seaplane tender and their tiny escorts would reach their patrol circuit, where they would finally see some seaplanes arrive. There were numerous bases dedicated to serving the planes out in the sea islands, but to maintain contact with Endurance, they would need a supply station that could move with her. In the distance, rain fell from the grey clouds. Ayres wondered absently if there would be lightning.

Lorcan headed back into the ship, going up to the bridge or at least what passed for a bridge. The twin towers of the ship were almost incidental in layout, however the helm itself was in the forward tower. As he walked an officer saluted him, still a hold over reaction from when they were official navy. Lorcan just waved him down and said "Prepare for brake from convoy, Merchant be damned, I very well want to know why there's smoke on the horizon, if those ships are sinking the sailors will need a pickup" The helmsman gave a nod, the spotter shouting over the ship speaker "Sir! Targets spotted, there's a cruiser over there. I'd wager an Essen class", a slight breath was all he gave before shouting "Alright! Be ready, Essen class has crap for endurance, its bound to got a tender somewhere...which likely means support. Guess someone found out about this little convoy"

The deep frrrraaaaaaaaaa noise of a seaplane descending caught on Sean's hearing, and he headed out onto the bridgewing to watch it land on the water. The unwieldy shape came down rapidly, then flared, showing off its underside to the ratings who had also stopped to watch, before levelling again and flopping into the water. It skipped across the surface for a few seconds then settled. The engine had been throttled down and it now rode the waves over to the tender. With the excitement over, he could hear petty officers yelling at the rates to get back to their damn jobs. Sean took that as a cue to return to his own place on the bridge.
