"Your probe has entered the space of the Celestial Federation of Xochima. It has been claimed by our scientists, and we are not willing to return it at this point." The defensive ships finalized calculations, their railguns would make direct hits if the Order ships held position.

"What do you hope to learn from the probe? There's nothing on there that we can't give you, if we could establish a stable relationship." The Celae reply. They halt their approach for now.

The Crescent Sun's sensors come back online after the trip, Nalmerk is greeted rather distinctly to several signatures on short range sensors. Partly Dampened by its position near the sun, He was partly amused that nothing had detected his vessel yet, or if they did weren't responding. Slowly the engines powered up, The Crescent Sun's energy signature lighting up as it left its position near the sun where it had jumped in. Only two of the shield arrays were active and weapons were powered down, Under STL, it would take his ship a small bit of time in order to get close to what was going on, though he figured it'd be in sensor range along sooner, especially given his own sensors were in range.

"Looks like they've each moved into a hostile stance. Not long now until they open fire or one concedes to the other." Aaron commented. No one spoke to contradict him, so he continued. "I wonder what it is they're in contention over. Helm, can you bring us in closer?" The pilot nodded without turning around, before throttling up the engines.

The Celae ships continue to scan the system, now detecting something they hadn't previously. It was a ship of unknown design, not matching any Midyan designs they had observed so far. They decide to keep an eye on it, but keep their focus on the Midyans for now.

"You have entered our system without permission, and you have overstayed you welcome. Leave now, or we will fire. This is your final warning." The Midyans would not back down from their position, expecting their slightly larger numbers and what they believed was superior range would bring victory if the encounter became hostile.

"So you wish to be unreasonable. So be it." The transmission ends, and the Celae engines flare to life. The shield projectors of the Partisan class frigates activate, projecting shields in front of the Ytnok (The Orator-class Cruiser) which block incoming fire but allow fire from the cruiser and the frigates through. The Ytnok fires its particle beams, railguns, and Firestorm plasma cannons at the Temoto, which it detects to be the weakest ship there. The Partisan-class frigates fire at one of the Storm-class Frigates with their railguns and particle beams.

The Temoto's shields were quickly destroyed by plasma cannon fire, and it's armor took heavy damage from railgun fire, which penetrated far into it. The hull had not been breached yet, and the Temoto could still fight. The Reef-class cruiser and a Storm-class frigate concentrated fire upon the Ytnok, sending railgun shells their way. The Storm-class frigate and Temoto returned fire to the Partisan-class frigates. The Storm-class's shields had been destroyed by the particle beams but could be brought back up, and it's thick armor prevented extensive railgun damage.

The projected shields defending the Ytnok fail, and begin to recharge. The Ytnok begins firing on the shieldless Temoto with its plasma cannons and 5 of its 2 MW lasers. The other 5 2 MW lasers focus on the Storm-class with the downed shields, which the Partisan-class frigates keep up their fire against. The shields of the frigates themselves start taking damage, thanks to the hole created in the projected shields. The particle beams of all the ships shift their focus to the other Storm-class and the Reef-class.

The Temoto's armor began to melt, and the hull was breached. Key areas were sealed off with bulkheads to prevent total atmosphere loss. Another volley would force it to retreat. The 2 MW lasers would do little to heat the Storm's armor, with so much the heat radiated into it would be spread out over a huge area. The plasma cannons were more a problem, as the outer armor of the Storm-class began to glow white hot and melt, reducing the protection it offered. The two Storm-class frigates launch a volley of 12 1kt missiles, given 10,000km to accelerate. Several would hopefully make it through PD with the speed gained at that range. The particle beams would quickly begin to do heavy damage to the Storm-class's and Reef-class's shields, but the Reef-class had a second layer to back up the first. Another volley of railgun fire was focused on the Ytnok, as the captains believed it held the heaviest weapons.

With the Temoto retreating, the Ytnok begins focusing its fire on the Reef-class. It's closing the distance now, and is almost within effective range of the plasma cannons. Though they would still be usable at this range, they would be weakened quite a bit. It fires all of its particle beams at the Reef, hoping to break its shields.
The missiles mostly get destroyed by the 77 point-defense lasers the fleet was equipped with, however one makes it through and hits one of the Partisan frigates. The shields of the frigate are brought down, leaving it exposed. It directs the projected shields to cover it from the angles it was being shot at from. For the other frigate, another one of its projected shields is brought down, exposing the Ytnok further. It starts taking hits to its own shields, but its four shield arrays provided adequate protection.

Nalmerk just watched very plainly through the sensors of the Crescent Sun at what just begun to unfold. Slowing the engines down as to keep distance, he kept silent as he watched. Raising the remaining 4 shield arrays and the 2 shield projectors. leaving all 8 shield arrays and both projectors online, the projectors set for maximum frontal arc protection. He wasn't sure just what the situation was between these two powers, though knew fairly well from sensor readings he didn't want to bring the Crescent Sun any closer.
Back at Malvar, a further 5 Halmar frames were begin fitted with equipment now, to bring them up to functioning grade, the selection process for pilots beginning in order to determine who will be allowed to command these new vessels once completed.

The Reef-class began a retreat from the Ytnok to keep out of the effective range of it's plasma cannons. If the Ytnok got too close, it would be hit by the plume of plasma created by it's nuclear pulse engine. The plasma cannons were able to destroy the Reef-class's shields. The Reef-class fired all of it's guns at the Ytnok.
The two Storm-class ships fired at the Partisan frigate without shields, using all of their guns. Another volley of missiles were loaded and fired at the single frigate.

The projected shields absorb some of the Reef's fire, and the Ytnok's shields absorb the rest. It has only three active shield arrays now, with one at 64%. The Ytnok fires ALL of its weapons at the Reef class, including its 10 60cm plasma cannons.
The frigate takes some hits, railgun rounds penetrating its 1.5 meter armor. They cause a few hull breaches, and the sections are sealed off. Both frigates focus all of their firepower on one of the Storm-classes. Some of the projected shields have come back online, and the shieldless frigate uses them to block several railgun rounds. The PD of the three ships opens up on the missiles when they get in range, the tight formation causing some overlap in PD coverage. All of the missiles are successfully shot down.

The Temoto swung back on an attack course towards the Ytnok. It fired all of it's guns, the shell speed boosted by the Temoto's velocity. The Reef-class's shields broke, and the weapons hit armor. The thermal damage from lasers and plasma would have little effect, with the heat dispersing through the huge amount of armor covering the Reef-class. The railguns would penetrate the Reef-class's armor, but only to about a meter in. It returned fire upon the Ytnok with all of it's guns.
The Storm-class's armor begins to liquify in some places from the huge amount of heat delivered by the plasma weapons. The railguns have an easier time penetrating it's armor, getting to a depth of 2.5 meters. The shield arrays on both of the Storm-class frigates come back online, but only to about 10%. The two Storm-classes fire another volley at the weakened Partisan-class frigate.

The Fury had taken the time to approach closer to the battle, though now it decellerated to hold some distance out of the weapons fire. Aaron watched the two flotillas fight with interest, trying to figure out tactics that might be used to counter what each of the aliens were doing now. He still had no idea what the conflict was about, but it didn't much matter. Sam interrupted his chain of thought though. "Sir? New contact. Yet another different aesthetic, though it's further off so a little fuzzy." He nodded, reminding himself that he needed to know these things, in spite of the irritation.

The Temoto's guns bring the Ytnok down to 2 shield arrays functioning. It directs 25 of its 15cm Plasma Cannons onto the vessel, hopefully liquefying it. The other 25 it aims at the same Storm-class the frigates had been firing on. The frigates themselves keep up firing, however the shieldless frigate continues to take a pounding. There are several more hull breaches, and one of its shield projectors is disabled. Its fusion reactor is also damaged, but it is stable for now.

The Temoto's crew was quickly killed by the huge amounts of heat going into it. It became a red-hot mass of various hull and armor metals, headed towards the Ytnok at great speeds. The Storm-class's single shield at 10% saved it's armor some grief, though plasma and other weapons fire soon made it through. Greater portions of the Storm-class's armor liquified, allowing several railgun shots to penetrate deep into it's armor. One breaches the hull. The Reef-class brings it's two 120cm railguns to bear on the weakened Partisan-class, firing them at it. The two Storm-classes do the same, and all three ships fire their smaller railguns at the Ytnok along with another volley of 12 missiles.

The Ytnok fires its thrusters in an attempt to get out of the way of the Temoto's wreck, but to no avail. The damaged Partisan-class, however, is nearer to the vector of the Temoto and is also faster. It maneuvers in an attempt to block the Temoto's wreckage from hitting the Ytnok, bringing its shield projectors to bare on the wreck. The ship is hit by several more railgun rounds, and the 120cm rounds penetrate its thin armor and cause a massive hull breach. The fusion reactor is damaged, and plasma begins to leak inside of the ship.
The Ytnok, in an attempt to avenge its fallen comrade, fires everything at the weakest Storm-class. The remaining Partisan-class Frigate does the same.

Nalmerk held for several long moments, unsure what exactly to do regarding the situation. He wasn't ready to deal with other life forms, let alone come across a fire fight. However he did notice the apparent aggressors seemed to use quite a bit of plasma, namely from how much it was lighting up the sensors. Suffice to say, this was unnerving him enough that he was tempted to just turn and run. Holding for the moment though to observe as much as he could and learn what he could. If either side was actually aggressive, watching this would give a fair bit of warning in how to deal with them.

Further hull liquification and penetration from the combined fire from the Ytnok and Partisan-class frigate force the Storm-class to retreat. With all of it's armor glowing red and parts falling off, multiple hull breaches, and the heat threatening to kill the crew or cause the reactor to fail, the Storm-class begins to speed away from the battle. The Reef-class and Storm-class focus fire on the Ytnok with all of their guns. The Storm-class uses up the last of it's missiles in the volley.

The remaining Partisan-class gets in between the Ytnok and the Reef-class, absorbing several shots with its shield projectors. Those soon fail, however, and the Ytnok begins taking shots to its shields again. It currently had three emitters up, but the third was only at 14%. It fires its lasers and particle beams at the retreating Storm-class, while focusing all of its railguns and plasma weapons on the Reef. The Partisan-class does the same.

The retreating Storm-class lowers the activity of it's fusion reactor to help slow the eventual containment fail. It is decided, that for the ship to survive, it must cool. It extends it's radiators, hoping that the Order ships focus on the bigger threats. The Reef-class's armor begins to melt on the outside, but it is still relatively cool beyond that due to internal convection. The railguns fired at it penetrate further, getting to a depth of 3 meters. The Storm-class still in action suffers it's first hull breach, but the railgun shell had so little kinetic energy left after it made it's way through all 3.6 meters of armor that the breach is easily sealed. Again, the Reef-class and Storm-class fire their all of their weapons at the Ytnok.
